I admit that I’m coming in on the tail end of this, as I only have Kevin Fischer on the Franklin end of the feed reader, but there is one hell of a firestorm over the disappearance of Fred Keller’s FranklinNOW blog. It sure looks like NOW online editor Mark Maley is beginning to target the conservative end of the NOW bloggers.
Free speech, baby!
BULLSEYE censured!
Fred should be commended for his support of our Armed Forces and Veterans. He provided us with many updates and positive stories about our troops. Unfortunately, Fred would often clearly express his views and later, post a related blog entry that is supported by misinformation and deny his previously stated view to avoid admittinng that he was wrong. I called him on this once and he threw a temper tantrum and became very abusive toward me although I had supported all of my comments and questions that I had for him about his blog entry.
Fred was abusisve of anyone who disagreed with his views. Even if he made his misleading and unsupported views clear and someone questioned them with facts, he would do his best to belittle that person; probably with the hopes of causing enough controversy to take the readers’ minds off of the real issue"¦HE WAS WRONG!
If you look at some of his comments on other blogs, you will notice that he does have good things to say and strong views on important topics. The problem that I have is that many of his posts are also childish and very negative towards others. He should also be open to listening to what others are saying in order to examine his own views and find better ways to support them. I know that many people "jump on the bandwagon" and believe much of what they read, but if Fred or other bloggers truly want to convince others that their views are the right views, they must provide valid arguments and discredit conflicting statements with facts; not with backstepping and name-calling.
That is too bad about Fred’s blog being gone from the NOW site. He’ll be missed. It seems that the NOW editors have a double standard. When liberal NOW bloggers are criticized, the NOW editors stand behind some sort of “free speech” conviction they claim to have. Yet they seem to have no problem going after conservative bloggers they disagree with like Fred.
