According to this article,Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) is only 23 signatures away from getting a vote that would likely codify that any attempt by the FCC to reinstitute the “fairness doctrine” would only come as a result of a Congress action.
There are 9 Republicans and many Democrats that have yet to sign the discharge petition. The list of unsigned Congresscritters is here.
If your Congresscritter is on the list, hit them up and get them to sign on to the discharge petition. Why would any Congresscritter be afraid of the American people, voting with their ears, deciding what should be on their radio stations?
I was a little surprised to see that my local Congresscritter (Wasserman-Schultz) has signed, who is as liberal as they come. You’ve probably seen her shilling on TV for Hillary over the last few weeks. And her seat is so safe that the GOP couldn’t even find someone to put on the ballot against her last time around. In this area, it’s only the two black Congressmen who haven’t signed on (Hastings and Meek).
My condolensces on your critter!
From a commonsense perspective, this is an issue that should cut across party lines. Clearly there are parts of the country where liberal media are more prevalent and areas where conservative. I can’t imagine a liberal being any more interested in giving airtime to a conservative than vice versa. The problem is that the meme of the conservative radio juggernaut is one that gets way too much of the publicity.
