No Runny Eggs

The repository of one hard-boiled egg from the south suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (and the occassional guest-blogger). The ramblings within may or may not offend, shock and awe you, but they are what I (or my guest-bloggers) think.

The Morning Scramble – 8/18/2008

I’m tanned, rested, and ready to blog again (while I help keep an eye on Fay over at the Free Republic weather desk)…

  • Tom McMahon charts the Mavericks.
  • Lawhawk caught NBC chilling their outdoor Olympic set. This is from the network that gave you the “dark, green” NFL set last year.
  • Gabriel Malor plotted yesterday’s temperatures. Guess what was stone cold yesterday?
  • Robert broke out the scorecards for that little event that John McCain and Barack Obama attended Saturday. There even is a variation of the old East German judge joke.
  • Emperor Misha I found Obama trading air-conditioned suites at his outdoors Denver worship session (Misha’s term that he didn’t strike out; you’ll have to head there for the struck-out portion) to union bosses for million-dollar donations. Do stay for what the sheeple have to do for their “free” tickets.
  • Gaius delivers good news on the technology of getting oil out of shale. It’s still in its infancy, but Shell Oil found a way to increase the recovery rate from 25% to 65%.
  • Bruce questions the wisdom of keeping an archaic Wisconsin law requiring bicyclists to stay at least 3 feet from parked cars when municipalities are placing bicycle lanes right next to the parking lane.
  • Uncle Jimbo assigns Obama a pay grade of E-0 for his non-answer on when an unborn child gets legal protection. Do remember that, like Russ Feingold, Obama couldn’t even answer what should happen if a child was “accidentally” live-born during an abortion.
  • XBradTC put up a future Scramble song featuring today’s artist and helicopters.
  • Vivian Lee proves that it doesn’t take a lot of brains to run a college. What do you suppose the one teaching job someone who was fired for misuse of funds should not get is?
  • Nick Schweitzer raises a glass to Reason for the right use of ethanol. PROST!
  • Eric interviewed Michele Bachmann.
  • James T. Harris calls out Obama for singling out Justice Clarence Thomas for non-nomination.
  • Slublog wonders if we’re ever going to see the “New Politics” out of Obama. Nope.
  • Fred smacks around Cris Collinsworth. I must add that I’ve gained a bit of respect for Kobe Bryant; not a lot, mind you, but a bit.
  • John Hawkins filmed a nice little commercial called “Hillary’s Hands”. Those of you in North Carolina ought to be able to see the similarities between that and the original Jesse Helms commercial.
  • Fausta reports Cuba’s health care system is in such great shape, they had to trade giraffes for medical equipment. Yes, this is the health care system the ‘Rats want to copy here.

Yes, it’s a scattershot, and it’s short, but my mind’s still in semi-vacation mode.
