The Morni…er, Afternoon Scramble – 8/22/2008

by @ 16:01 on August 22, 2008. Filed under The Morning Scramble.

This one goes out to the fans of the Obamination, as they wait for Barry O’s second…

Since the semi-intentional delay didn’t yield a slip of the ‘Rat running mate to hammer, let’s roll with the regularily-scheduled Scramble –

  • Jerome J. Schmitt finds buyers’ remorse over the ‘Rat caucus system.
  • Dean Barnett wonders where all the Johnny-come-latelys on Barack Obama’s inability to speak without a Teleprompter came from.
  • Bill Quick remembers August is the Month of Doom™ for Dem Presidential candidates.
  • Hugh Hewitt caught Obama worshipping the efficiency of tyrrany.
  • J. Ewing puts some odds on the PUMA Revolution being successful. As an inveterate gambler, and a fan of CHAOS, I’ll take those odds.
  • Jim Geraghty has another reason for John McCain to not take Joe Lieberman; the latter’s view on the economy.
  • Ed Morrissey answers the question of how many houses John McCain owns – ZERO (his wife has them all, and because of a pre-nup, the finances are separated).
  • S. Weasel charts the effectiveness of negative campaigning.
  • Ragnar Danneskjold wonders where all the conservatives are on the RNC speaking schedule. Do remember the RNC has wanted conservatives out of the party power structure, if not all the way out of th party, for a long time.
  • ScarletPimpernel says, “Climb to the bowels of the Posideon.”
  • Sean Oxendine introduces the OxMethod of Electoral Vote estimating. While Obama had a slim lead when he introduced it, there are a couple of notes: it’s a result of older polls still included, and John “Flipper” Kerry had a much-more-substantial lead at this point in 2004.
  • William Teach runs the numbers on how much oil the US has. If only the ‘Rats and envirowhackos would allow us to get it,….
  • Dr. Rusty Shackleford brings bad news on an item Charles Johnson carried – that weapons complex in Pakistan the Islamokazis attacked with homicide bombers to the tune of 59 dead likely includes a uranium-enrichment plant. Charles also noted that the post-Musharraf coalition is collapsing.
  • Laughing Wolf continues to provide the best analysis of the Soviet retaki…er, Russian takeover of Georgia out there. God help us all if one of the dark horses for Obama’s VP, Wesley Clark, actually becomes VP.
  • Warner Todd Huston brings news of a union going back to its old totalitarian tricks. I’ll lay odds the New York City District Council of Carpenters will be endorsing Obama.
  • Jonathan V. Last points out Red China has a ticking population time bomb bust. That may come too late for the US, however, as the serious impacts aren’t expected until 2050.
  • The Borderline Chris ran some numbers on his phone bill. Take a guess how much of that phone bill doesn’t go to the phone company; I dare you.

One of the Cheddar expatriates in DC just had a bold prediction on the timing of the Obamination texting – 2 minutes before the joint appearance of Obama and his running mate. I’ll go with 2 hours before, only because I’m not quite as cruel as he is.
