The Des Moines Register released a poll on Sundayshowing the Iowan preferences in a McCain/Clinton and a McCain/Obama head to head. In the poll, McCain beat Hillary 49% to 40%. However, Obama beats McCain 53% to 36%.
As I’ve posted before, it’s hard for me to discern much policy difference between the two Democrats. However even with my disinterested review, I can tell that while both candidates are Socialists, Hillary is Socialist lite.
So how come when presented with the two contests there is such a wide swing? It doesn’t seem to make any sense to say folks aren’t interested in voting for Socialism unless it is full fledged. No, the answer would seem to be in the following take out of the poll; McCain received the vote of 53% of the Independents when pitted against Hillary, Obama received the vote of 52% of the Independents in a campaign against McCain. It seems that the squishy middle in Iowa is sold on HOPE and wouldn’t vote for Hillary no matter how HOPEful she might be.
