Remember when Barack Obama said he would support the “Gang of 10″‘s plan to potentially open up drilling off of the coasts of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia? CNN reports the clock has just struck midnight on that statement:
“I made a general point about the fact that we need to provide the American people some relief and that there has been constructive conversations between Republicans and Democrats in the Senate on this issue,” he said during a press conference in Cape Canaveral.
“What I will not do, and this has always been my position, is to support a plan that suggests this drilling is the answer to our energy problems,” Obama added….
Just in case you don’t think this is a full flip-flop, CNN also included some previous comments on offshore drilling in the story:
“When I’m president, I intend to keep in place the moratorium here in Florida and around the country that prevents oil companies from drilling off Florida’s coasts,” Obama told reporters in Jacksonville in late June. “That’s how we can protect our coastline and still make the investments that will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and bring down gas prices for good.”
As the vacationing Jim Geraghty says, “All statements by Barack Obama come with an expiration date. All of them.”
Revisions/extensions (7:20 pm 8/2/2008) – I added some explanation to prove that it is a full flip-flop from Obama. I wonder what the Obamination Express runs on; I sure hope it isn’t a petrochemical, because it sure seems to be doing a lot of u-turns and back-ups.
The Express runs on “hope and change” of course…kind of like Peter Pan could fly with his “happy thought!”
Peter Pan would still be a better president then Bush or McCain. At least Obama will be good for making America look good to the rest of the world. Remember they are politicians, fell lucky you are getting anything. The republicans need to have a cool down session, and see how much of the dead weight they can loose over the next 4 years. Then they can come back stronger then ever, or continue letting the same people give them a bad name.
Allow me to put that foreign transmission through the ROW-to-reality translator:
“We want America to be run over by the first of our number to step up and try the job. Obama is more likely to allow that to happen than McCain, so even though we don’t have a voice in the election, we want the President of the World™ to do to the US what we did to our own countries.”
I have but a two-word answer – Foxtrot Yankee
GuyfromCan…is that like the “Candidate of Hope and Change?”
I like Bush, can’t say he’s great. The one thing I can always say about him is that he has always had the strengthening of America as his core principle; that is not something that could ever be said of the Obamassiah.
As for the Repubs…we may be able to find common ground there. There problem is that 4 years of the “Ys” i.e. Barry, Harry and Nancy would leave a dung pile so big that it may take 50 years just to undo their 4.
The Presidency is not a training wheel event ergo, Barry should not be allowed anywhere near it.
OBAMA = BETRAYAL
Obama supporters are foolish to think that he will never betray them.
Obama was a close friend of Pastor Wright for TWENTY YEARS.
Obama threw Wright under the bus for personal ambition.
McCain would not betray his country even after 5 years of torture.
You can put lipstick on a traitor, but he’s still a traitor.
