He even shows a few flashes of the dearly departed York and Pork in that piece.
He’d better be careful.
The Realtors’ lobby is extremely powerful (makes NRA look like kittens.) And they like coercion to buy homes. They like it a LOT.
That’s one reason that the Flat Tax and/or Consumption tax ideas haven’t gone anyplace.
On the flip side, you’ll find Realtors generally leading the charge for School Tax increases. They’ll tell you that “better schools” increase housing values.
It’s half-true. What they DON’T tell you is that higher taxes erode housing value on a discounted-present-value basis.
