500 WMD munitions found in Iraq since 2003

by @ 18:06. Filed under Politics - National, War on Terror.

From the Cybercast News Service, because nobody else has the balls to put it up on the Web, though Fox News Channel did carry this –

Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) and Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich.) announced Wednesday the finding of over 500 munitions or weapons of mass destruction, specifically “sarin- and mustard-filled projectiles,” in Iraq.

Reading from unclassified portions of a document developed by the U.S. intelligence community, Santorum said, “Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq’s pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist.”

According to Santorum, “That means in addition to the 500, there are filled and unfilled munitions still believed to exist within the country.”

As I type, I just finished hearing Santorum state this on the Senate floor. Where’s my apology, Russ el-Slimeroad? Where is it, Howie Deanie? How about it, Ketchup Boy? You asshats still want to bleat, “Bush lied!”?

Revisions/extensions (6:22 pm 6/21) – Here is Rick Santorum’s press release, something else you won’t see from the presstitutes:

U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, joined Congressman Peter Hoekstra, (R-MI-2), Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, today to make a major announcement regarding the release of newly declassified information that proves the existence of chemical munitions in Iraq since 2003. The information was released by the Director of National Intelligence, John Negroponte, and contained an unclassified summary of analysis conducted by the National Ground Intelligence Center. In March, Senator Santorum began advocating for the release of these documents to the American public.

"The information released today proves that weapons of mass destruction are, in fact, in Iraq," said Senator Santorum. "It is essential for the American people to understand that these weapons are in Iraq. I will continue to advocate for the complete declassification of this report so we can more fully understand the complete WMD picture inside Iraq."

The following are the six key points contained in the unclassified overview:

"¢ Since 2003 Coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent.

"¢ Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq’s pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist.

"¢ Pre-Gulf War Iraqi chemical weapons could be sold on the black market. Use of these weapons by terrorists or insurgent groups would have implications for Coalition forces in Iraq. The possibility of use outside Iraq cannot be ruled out.

"¢ The most likely munitions remaining are sarin and mustard-filled projectiles.

"¢ The purity of the agent inside the munitions depends on many factors, including the manufacturing process, potential additives, and environmental storage conditions. While agents degrade over time, chemical warfare agents remain hazardous and potentially lethal.

"¢ It has been reported in open press that insurgents and Iraqi groups desire to acquire and use chemical weapons.

Why the “National Popular Vote” is a bad idea (part 3)

by @ 12:45. Filed under Politics - National.

Okay, enough of the nice “non-partisan” arguments below. There are two interlocking reasons why the leftists over at National Popular Vote and various presstitutes are pushing an extra-Constitutional plan to neuter the Electoral College: it would allow the maximizing of Democratic vote fraud, which in turn would allow the moonbattiest of moonbats to successfully run for President. Time to explain.

There are a number of highly-populous Democratic strongholds that historically been home to massive vote fraud that lie in states that are no longer competitive to one party or the other. With the current state-by-state Electoral College scheme, there is little incentive to try to mine the graveyards or have the usual suspects “vote” 5 times in their state of origin because the party that would get that state’s electoral votes would do so with or without that fraud. However, if a majority of the electoral votes were tied to the candidate that wins the national vote, that fraud would become vital for a ‘Rat victory.

I already touched on the “radicalization” of the Presidential candidates that the abandonment of the state-by-state scheme would enable. That would be exacerbated on the left by a guaranteed number of “votes” via fraud. With those “votes” already in the ballot box, the ‘Rats would feel even less pressure to attempt to “moderate” their candidate (as if Al Gore and John F’em Kerry could be called “moderates”).

Senate passes “Amnesty first, border enforcement never”

by @ 9:03. Filed under Immigration, Politics - National.

I’m sure you’ve all heard by now that the Senate passed their version of the immigration “reform” bill 62-36. One of the public parts of the bill, which (thankfully) still has to go through a conference committee with Jim Sensenbrenner, would authorize construction of 370 miles of fencing and 500 miles of vehicle barriers.

However, Michelle Malkin has the details on how that means nothing. It seems that Arlen Specter (tell me again why the RNC and President Bush supported him in the 2004 primary) snuck in a provision that Mexico be consulted before any new barriers are built.

As for the rest of the trash that the Senate passed, let’s see:

  • Guest-worker program – 200,000 per year with an initial 3-year visa. That visa can be renewed once, and once that “guest” is here for 4 years, they leap to the head of the citizenship line.
  • Amnesty for the invaders already here –
    • Those here 5 or more years as well as those working on farms for at least 863 hours in 2004-2005 (or willing and able to lie) leap to the head of the citizenship line without going back to where they came from and become citizens in 6 years after paying a modest fine
    • Those here between 2 and 5 years (or those not willing and able to lie enough to qualify for the 5-year rule) get citizenship 13 or so years after sneaking out across the border and coming back through a port of entry.
    • Those here less than 2 years, not working on a farm, and too stupid/lazy to lie allegedly get deported.
  • Penalties for being caught here illegally – misdemeanor, and any deportation ordered can be appealed ad nauseum
  • Other conditions of deportation – a felony non-immigration or 3 misdemeanor non-immigration convictions, which applies to both illegal and legal aliens.
  • Employers’ actions – they will eventually have to screen new hires’ Social Security numbers, with $20,000 fines per illegal they’re caught with.
  • All in all, if anything resembling this makes it out of conference committee, it’s over.

Out-of-control Congress protecting the most-corrupt of their own

by @ 10:25. Filed under Law and order, Politics - National.

It really shouldn’t be much of a surprise that the RepubicRAT half of the Party In Government is backing ethically-challenged Louisiana DemocRAT Representative William Jefferson in his battle to remain in office and free of corruption charges despite videotape evidence that he accepted a $100,000 bribe and convictions of his associates on charges of bribing him, going so far as to threaten a legal challenge to a search warrant execution on Jefferson’s Congressional office. After all, Congress exempts its members from just about every law they saddle the rest of America with.

The veil on Feingold’s “Retreat and Defeat” strategy is lifting

From an AP piece on Russ el-Slimeroad’s (Moonbat-Al Qaeda) urging his fellow ‘Rats to strengthen their attacks on President Bush:

“I believe the situation would probably get better” if U.S. troops left, he said. “The lesson of insurgency is when the occupying power leaves, it tends to lessen, rather than increase, the level of violence.”

Tell that to the Cambodians killed by Pol Pot after he gained power. Tell that to the Cubans still suffering under Fidel Castro. Tell that to the Vietnamese in the southern part of the country. Heck, tell that to the various ethnic groups in the Balkans. See what they’ll tell you about that.

When the insurgency is driven by the desire to kill everyone not 110% like them, the level of violence doesn’t drop when the US cuts and runs. It doesn’t drop even the moment the insurgents gain power. Indeed, it actually increases after the insurgents gain power as they are free to fully-implement their mass-murderous desires. Only after the bulk of the people they want to kill are dead does the level of violence drop, and then it doesn’t actually stop until after the insurgents are replaced by a group not bent on total revenge.

    Sykes Writes – Quick quiz

by @ 20:13. Filed under Politics - National, War on Terror.

Charlie has a quick quiz on which item the ‘Rats regret bringing up more (er, it’s only “most” when there are 3 items) – The Abramoff Scandal or The NSA Wiretap Issue.

At this point, I’ll go with the Abramoff Scandal.   It is now clear that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada)  used his influence to affect legislation in the favor of Abramoff clients in exchange for campaign contributions from same.

Of course, if it comes out that NSA intercepts did help out in busting up the planned Al-Qaida follow-on attack on the Library Tower in LA (the linked AP  story from breibart.com says that President Bush neither confirmed nor denied that the NSA intercept program helped bust up the attack), the ‘Rats will really rue bringing that up.

You just knew there had to be a federal hook here

(H/T  – Wendy – sorry about that, my feed reader doesn’t pick up authors at B&S)

Or, in this case, cash, and lots of it.   From Jim “Craps” Doyle’s (WEAC/Potawatomi-For Sale) press release on signing the uber-“safety”-seat bill

By signing AB 618, Wisconsin is eligible for $625,000 in new federal funds this federal fiscal year, andcould receive up to $2.5 million over the next six years. These federal funds will be used for child safety seat education and training programs as well as programs that purchase and distribute child safety seats to low income families.

It sure is nice to know that the feds have so much money that they’re mandating this  .   At least they’re not withholding highway funds like they do for every other damn stupid mandate.

Wendy  noticed one more thing; Craps trotted out the tired old lieberal line about X being NUMBER ONE KILLER.   Like him, I sure didn’t notice that kids 4-7 were dropping dead either from the simple fact that they weren’t in booster seats or weren’t in booster seats during car crashes.

Homer nods – it was Owen’s better half, Wendy, that created the post.

    Alito cloture invoked 72-25

by @ 16:32. Filed under Politics - National.

I’ll have the link to the roll once it’s available. While Russ Feingold blindly listened to the Kerry/NY Times siren call, Herb Kohl somehow didn’t hear it and voted for cloture.

Revisions/extensions (5:10 pm 1/30) – The roll call is now up. Dems voting conscience over party and moonbats – Akaka, Baucus, Bingaman, Byrd, Cantwell, Carper, Conrad, Dorgan, Inouye, Kohl, Landrieu, Lieberman, Lincoln, both Nelsons, Pryor, Rockefeller, and Salazar.
