Thanks, Charlie

by @ 15:12. Filed under Miscellaneous.

I just happened to take a look at Charlie Sykes’ blogroll, and this hole in the wall of the Web happens to be there. Dunno exactly how that happened; it wasn’t even much of a bleg (I happened to notice that there was a blank spot between Spotted Horse and On the Borderline, and pointed that out to him, as well as an invite to check out this place).

At least he didn’t invite me to the blogger edition of Sunday Insight; I’d probably break the cameras :-)

So, if you’re here from Sykes Writes, take a look around, ignore the near-silence I had the last 2 weeks, and pipe up.

NFL Week 12

by @ 10:42. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Don’t forget; the window is always open right up until game-time. One of these days, I’ll figure out just how bad the last 3 weeks were for me (I’d like to see you do better, Dad29 :-) , but for now, let’s look forward. As always, the line comes from Yahoo, and even though I actually will be putting money on most of these picks (my sister’s headed out to Vegas tomorrow), they’re for entertainment purposes only (there, that should keep the revenuers off my back for another week).

Atlanta @ Detroit (+3) – It’s Thanksgiving, so that’s worth 4 points for the Lions. How could the bookies forget that? Oh well, make sure you run to the window to take advantage; you have about 45 minutes to do so and have a turduckhen on your Man.
Denver @ Dallas (+2.5) – No Lett, no snow, no problem.
St. Louis @ Houston (+4) – Career backup Jamie Martin has his 2 wins.
New England @ Kansas City (-3) – Too many injuries to overcome to continue their win streak.
Cleveland @ Minnesota (-4.5) – I don’t want to take Duh Viqueens, but Duh NewBrowns are in complete disarray, and the game is in the Rollerdome.
Carolina (-4) @ Buffalo – Worst red-zone defense, meet a pissed-off 2nd-best red-zone offense. Pissed-off 2nd-best red-zone offense, meet the Bills end-zone.
Tampa Bay @ Chicago (-3) – The Bears defense will outscore the Bucs to ensure that the NFC North will not have a loser for a champ.
Baltimore @ Cincinnati (-9) – Who would’ve thunk that the BenGALS would be 7-3, or that the OldBrowns defense would be so torched?
San Diego (-3) @ Washington – Take the over 43.5 as yet another former Redskins coach beats up the Deadskins. This time, that coach has an offense.
San Francisco @ Tennessee (-7.5) – Dorsey, Smith; it doesn’t matter.
Miami @ Oakland (-7) – Stick the fork in the Dullfins; they’re done.
Jacksonville (-3) @ Arizona – If you’re wondering why I’ mainly sticking with the favorites, it’s because the bookies usually have a good grasp of what’s what this late in the season.
Green Bay @ Philadelphia (-4.5) – If Ron Wolf says the Pack is done, believe it. This is the game of the weak.
NY Giants (+4.5) @ Seattle – This great game, which on any other week would be The Game of the Week, will not be seen in Milwaukee, Green Bay, or Philadelphia. We’ll be missing a barnburner.
New Orleans @ NY Jets (+1.5) – Jimmy Hoffa says you won’t need them points. ESPN is wondering what it did so wrong to get this game of the weak, part deux.
Pittsburgh (+7.5) @ Indianapolis – Over/under on the Al Michaels gambling references-4. Take the over on that, take the under 47 for the point total, and end the week rolling in dough while enjoying the game of the year.

Who is this on WTMJ and what did he do to Jeff?

by @ 9:43. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Here I am trying to figure out Week 12, and this liberal who claims to be Jeff Wagner wants to make a seat-belt violation a primary enforcement issue, involving a heftier fine and points off the driver’s license. One of his arguments is that because we already let government regulate driving so heavily, what’s another thing? Well, why not make the sales tax 6% statewide because it’s already at 5.85% in Milwaukee County restaurants? Why not make the top rate for the state income tax 10% because we’re so close now? Why not let the feds take 80% of every dollar you make above $186,500 (or so) because we were there once? Why not require a photo id to purchase limited quantities of Claritin (quantities that don’t last more than a week during allergy season) because we already do that to a whole class of its competitors?

Sorry, Jeff. The line has to be drawn somewhere. If you want to stick gubmint in the seat-belt issue, why not make it a mitigating circumstance in the courts and insurance claims?

(For the record, I do wear my seat belt; not because the gubmint tells me to, but if I decide to or am forced to make a sudden maneuver, I don’t feel like leaving my seat.)

Tax freeze continues to sublimate, despite claims to the contrary

by @ 19:04. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this story in this morning’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (executive decision to take a break from ripping them for the asterisk editorial this time only) that claims that school taxes are going down by an average of 0.5%. Let’s take a look at the first paragraph:

Property taxes for schools will drop 0.5% statewide on the bills that go out next month, but individual school districts could see bigger decreases or substantial increases, according to a report to be issued today by the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance.

Well, here in Oak Creek, they’re going up 2.21% to go along with the city’s 4.17% levy increase with an over-5% spending increase financed with a fund raid, the county-board-mandated 2.98% county levy increase, the 4% MMSD (the Crappy Water People) levy increase, and the 6.6% MATC levy increase. I decided to see if I can find the report referenced by the Journal Sentinel. I went to the Wisconsin Taxpayer’s Alliance website; nope, nothing there about this. The latest item they have on the site is a piece on administrative rules from 11/17 with an accompanying press release. I went to WisPolitics.com Press Release archive, thinking that the webmasters at wistax.org were a bit slow on issuing a press release. Oops; the latest press release from the WTA they have there is also the 11/17 adminstrative rule press release. I did manage to come up with the numbers myself and was shocked to be able to confirm them.

However, I do notice that this ignores the spending, which has gone up due to fund raids at the state level. Also, this comes at the back end of a stunt by Craps. This is noted in a way at the end of the story, but I’ll get back to that in a bit. Remember that the state aid increase came 2 years after he unilaterally shorted the state’s 2/3rds share of the funding of schools (61% seems to stick in my mind), and his various raids brought that back up to essentially 2/3rds. So, let’s take a look at the levy since the 2002-2003 school year (the last year before Craps began his budget games). Due in large part to that shorting, the total statewide school property tax levy went up 5.50% between 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, and 7.22% between 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. So, doing some fancy math and taking this year’s gimmick tax “cut” into account, the school tax levy went up an annual average of 4.02%. For those interested in viewing the numbers themselves, you can either head to DPI’s Tax Levy page and do the math, or download my worksheet (a 125 KB Excel file). Any takers on next year’s school tax levy INCREASE being less than 4%?

Back to how this was noted in the Journal Sentinel. They quote Wauwatosa School Board Business Services Director John Mack – “The levy is actually completely controlled by the state, and when I give my budget presentations, I don’t take credit when it goes down and I don’t take the blame when it goes up.” What a crock of horse manure. Mr. Mack, you’re paid to figure stuff like this out, and considering you’re a school district employee, you’re probably compensated very handsomely in both salary and benefits. Could your inability to figure this out have resulted in the average annualized levy increase of 3.81% (8.36% between 2002-2003 and 2003-2004, 3.62% increase between 2003-2004 and 2004-2005, and a 0.37% decrease between 2004-2005 and 2005-2006)?

Jib’s not the only one that needs to get back in the rhythm

by @ 17:22. Filed under Miscellaneous.

At least he’s not as far out of it as I am. Heck, I never did give you the expanded view on Weak 11. Anyway, here’s some quick hits:

  • Tony Stewart won his second Cup Sunday. Look for Brainless France to “tweak” the Chase some more so that the guy who deserves it by scoring the most points over 36 races doesn’t get it next year.
  • Wisconsin’s own Ted Musgrave took the Craftsman Truck Series crown in a rain-delayed race Saturday. Because he is a Cheddarhead that had exactly 1 win this year, look for the CTS to get its own Chase next year (can’t have them Wisconsin boys winning through consistency).
  • Staying with sports, Greg Gall, the guy most responsible for the Packers’ 6th loss in Cincinnati, got probation and a $200 fine for running onto the field and taking the ball from Brett Favre. No word on whether he’ll be reimbursed by the Bengals.
  • Ron Wolf said the Packers’ season was lost. Well, duh – I could’ve told him that the second that Javon Walker went down.

Green refuses to respond to Walker’s call for the end to automatic gas-tax increases

by @ 16:54. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Mark Belling is reading a response from the Mark Green campaign claiming that Niagra, Wisconsin is out of cell-phone range (gee; how does the campaign know what he’s doing if they can’t get his cell working?) and blasting Belling for never having Green on (never mind that you can’t get WISN in Green’s Congressional district). Guess they’re just as beholden to Payne and Dolan and company as just about every other politician in the state.

Oh, BTW, the first caller after Mark read the response had just come back from deer-hunting in Niagra, and his cell phone worked just fine.

I wonder if the Racist Jentinel will assign an asterisk to Derrick Wallace

by @ 11:44. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Derrick Wallace, the head of the Orlando chapter of the NAACP, has changed parties and joined the GOP. In response, local ‘Rat leader Tim Shea responded, “I’m a little confused. Are we talking about the National Association for the Advancement of Construction Professionals — or Colored People?”

Welcome aboard, Mr. Wallace. Don’t let bigots like Shea, Pimentel, Kane, and Stanford* deter you.

Rubberhead suspended from Roush Racing for the rest of 2005

by @ 13:35. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Slightly-different version cross-posted at The Wisconsin Sports Bar

Anyway, I caught this live on the “Todd and Eddie Show”, and they reported it was Crown Royal that really put the pressure on Roush Racing to suspend Kurt Busch.

This brings up a couple of interesting things for those of us that follow NASCAR, questions that prove the folly of the Chase –

  • Does he get replaced in the Chase, and if so, by whom? We do have 2 choices – Elliott Sadler (11th place after the fall Richmond race – the Chase cut-off) and Jamie McMurray (currently 11th).
  • Does Rubberhead lose the bump-up in drivers’ points he got after Richmond and face the possibility of dropping out of the top 10?
  • Similarily, does Roush lose the bump-up in owners’ points he got for the #97 after Richmond because he’s running a non-Chase driver in the car?
  • Finally, can NASCAR “un-invite” Rubberhead to the awards banquet in New York City?

I’m not surprised that it wasn’t NASCAR that suspended him; they let Scott Wimmer drive after his DUI back at the beginning of the year. I’m also not surprised that Roush dumped him. I wonder what Roger Penske has to be thinking right about now. We may know more tonight; Penske is a scheduled guest on Speed’s “Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain”. Ricky Rudd is still available, even though he is headed to retirement – the Blue Deuce is the one ride he would have done the 2006 season for.

Expanded views on Week 10

by @ 12:04. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Since I barely got my picks in under the wire, time to expand on the week I get it back (I hope; 2 5-win weeks made things very lean – more on that in a bit) –

Green Bay (+9.5) @ Atlanta – Just too many points to give up.
Kansas City (+2.5) @ Buffalo – At least it’s not snowing.
NY Jets @ Carolina (-9) – Come on, say it with me – J-E-T-S SUCK! SUCK! SUCK!
San Francisco (+13.5) @ Chicago – The Bears won’t score 14 points.
Denver (-3) @ Oakland – No altitude, no problem.
Houston @ Indianapolis (-17.5) – I can’t give too many points in this one.
Baltimore (+6.5) @ Jacksonville – Upset special time.
New England (-3) @ Miami – What, this isn’t 13 points?
Minnesota @ NY Giants (-9.5) – Stick a 2 in front of that.
Cleveland @ Pittsburgh (-7.5) – No Big Ben, no problem.
St Louis @ Seattle (-7) – The Seahags have the Lambs’ number.
Washington @ Tampa Bay (-1) – Washington is the worst 5-3 team in the history of sports.
Dallas (+3) @ Philadelphia – The Eaglets’ season is DONE!

Thank you, Veterans

by @ 10:45. Filed under Miscellaneous.

(H/T for the Presidential proclamation – Boots and Sabers)

Thank you, veterans, for serving the greatest country in the history of the world, for defending freedom, and for ensuring that I can have this little blog without fear of government censorship. I truly can’t say it better than President Bush, however –

Americans owe a great debt of gratitude to those who have sacrificed for our liberty and for the security of our Nation. We express deep appreciation to our veterans"”the men and women who stepped forward when America needed them, triumphed over brutal enemies, liberated continents, and answered the prayers of millions around the globe.

From the beaches of Normandy and the snows of Korea to the mountains of Afghanistan and the deserts of Iraq, our courageous veterans have sacrificed so that Americans and others could live in freedom. As we mark the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II this year, we remember the millions of veterans who crossed oceans and defeated two of the most ruthless military forces the world has ever known. The freedom that the children and grandchildren of these veterans now enjoy is a monument to their fallen comrades and the generations of patriots who have served our country.

Through their commitment to freedom, America "˜s veterans have lifted millions of lives and made our country and the world more secure. They have demonstrated to us that freedom is the mightiest force on Earth. We resolve that their sacrifices will always be remembered by a grateful Nation.

With respect for and in recognition of the contributions our service men and women have made to the cause of peace and freedom around the world, the Congress has provided (5 U.S.C. 6103(a)) that November 11 of each year shall be set aside as a legal public holiday to honor veterans.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2005, as Veterans Day and urge all Americans to observe November 6 through November 12, 2005, as National Veterans Awareness Week. I urge all Americans to recognize the valor and sacrifice of our veterans through ceremonies and prayers. I call upon Federal, State, and local officials to display the flag of the United States and to encourage and participate in patriotic activities in their communities. I invite civic and fraternal organizations, places of worship, schools, businesses, unions, and the media to support this national observance with commemorative expressions and programs.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this second day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand five, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirtieth.

The Racist Jentinel begins to define “mainstream black” thought

by @ 10:32. Filed under Miscellaneous.

In today’s paint catcher (because I refuse to sully dead fish or insult the intelligence of birds with that “product”), the idiots at 4th and State* make the ridiculous claim that yelling obsenities who call the police on you for engaging in suspicious activity should be considered acceptable behavior. By calling Michael McGee Jr. an un-asterisked African-American, while earlier calling Justice Clarence Thomas one that deserves an asterisk for “not representing the views of mainstream black America”, they made the assertion that one must be willing to yell obsenities at the drop of a hat and deliver DVDs to friends not at their homes or during normal business hours but in the parking lots of businesses that are closed for the night (if you believe, like the idiotorial board, that paricular explanation for McGee’s presence in that lot at that particular time) to be considered “black”. For that matter, by extending the un-asterisked name to McGee, they also insinuate that bashing gays and threatening police officers is also part of the “true black” experience.

Oh, one more thing; why no mention in the idiotorial of McGee’s claim in the police report on this incident that the reason he was in that parking lot was not to give a friend a DVD on non-violence, but because his friend left her car in the lot? Another thing that deserves a full investigation is just why Michael McGee Jr. was in that lot at that time of night. I’ll even be helpful and suggest the one legitimate reason for him being there for 23-30 minutes; his friend’s car had broken down and he didn’t want her to wait alone for AAA (of course, this is something that would have been reflected in either the police report or in McGee’s continuing statements, and since it isn’t,….).

It’s official – Madistan ‘Rats vs the rest of Wisconsin

by @ 9:53. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Kathleen Falk (D-Madistan) announced yesterday that she is running against Peg Lautenschlager (D-Ditch) 4 years after the Keg was the beneficiary of the war the Madistan ‘Rats conducted against Milwaukee ‘Rats. In that round, Brian Burke (D-Convict) was forced to withdraw from public service after getting a laundry list tossed at him (he later became a lobbyist and ended up plea-bargaining the charges down to a felony and misdemeanor). I find it funny sad that the Madistan ‘Rats think that a far-left lieberal who has no prosecutorial experience (according to Goldschlager herself-courtesy WisPolitics; dunno if Keg realizes that’s a plus in Madistan, but by bringing it up now, it is sure to stick in the general election) and a soft-on-crime approach slammed by Craps himself 4 years ago (see the Bucher press release-also courtesy WisPolitics) is more electable than a scandal-ridden far-left lieberal who at least does some prosecutions from time to time. Guess they figured out that Keg prefers to have her own scandals rather than being tied to the Madistan ‘Rat ones.

I’m definitely going to enjoy watching the ‘Rats destroy themselves.

Can you pass ;the US Citizenship test?

by @ 9:25. Filed under Miscellaneous.

(H/T – GBfan)

I didn’t think the US Citizenship test was that hard, but maybe it’s just that I’m a history buff that (a) knew the stuff before high school through the satisfaction of intellectual curiosity and (b) had the rare public school American history teacher that actually taught most of this stuff. BTW, I’ll be busy rounding up those who didn’t get 10 of 10, but unlike my blogfather, I’ll simply pound the right answers into them (I’ve got my sledgehammer drawn and ready for that purpose).

Week 9 – rounding the bend

by @ 9:19. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Halfway home, and I’m 8 games above .500 at a money-making 61-53-2. As always, I’m using the Yahoo line, and if you lose money on these picks, you get next week’s free as well –

Cincinnati @ Baltimore (+3) – To steal Jimmy “Masterlock” Duggans’ favorite line, You may like the points, you may want the points, and by law in Nevada, Barbados, the Caymans, and other off-shore gambling havens, you will get the points, but you’re not gonna need them.” The BenGALS got all they could handle against the worst team in the NFL, while Baltimore actually had the lead on the road against one of the elite in the 4th quarter.
Atlanta (-2.5) @ Miami – So what if Vick sucks; Miami sucks worse.
Detroit (+1) @ Minnesota – Game of the Weak, Part I – Minnesota has no business being favored.
San Diego (-6.5) @ NY Jets – You know the drill by now.
Carolina (-1.5) @ Tampa Bay – You just don’t bounce back from being embarrassed by the Whiners.
Tennessee (+3) @ Cleveland – Game of the Weak, Part II – play for the tie and go under the 39.
Houston @ Jacksonville (-13.5) – Normally, I wouldn’t lay the lumber in this situation. However, Houston got their one win for the year, and the Jags are overdue with their can of whoop-ass.
Oakland @ Kansas City (-4) – This game is just screaming out for some cracktion.
Chicago (-3) vs New Orleans @ Baton Rouge – Duh Bears cement their hold on the division this week.
Seattle (-4) @ Arizona – Freely give the short 4. The Seahags won’t miss them.
NY Giants (-11) @ San Francisco – What? Am I nuts giving 11 on the road? Not when the Whiners give up an average of 31.7 points a game, and that was with a game against the hapless Bucs.
Pittsburgh (-4) @ Green Bay – Can we fire them now?
Philadelphia (+3) @ Washington – David Akers is back, so the Eaglets only have to get to the Deadskins’ 35 to score.
Indianapolis @ New England (+3.5) – Ignore the records, ignore the injuries. This game is in Peyton’s personal House of Pain.

Weak 8 – distant replay

by @ 8:51. Filed under Miscellaneous.

One word for this week – UNNNGGGHHH!!!!!!

Minnesota 13 @ Carolina 38 (-7.5) – Good thing I didn’t tell you to stick a “2” in front of that 7.5.
Green Bay 14 @ Cincinnati 21 (-9-LOSS) – The BenGALS sure tried to give this one away, but Favre was in an even bigger giving mood.
Arizona 13 (+9) @ Dallas 34 – What does this tell you about Arizona?
Philadelphia 21 @ Denver 49 (-3.5) – The Eaglets were gassed.
Chicago 19 (+3) @ Detroit 13 – The overtime saved the under too.
Cleveland 16 (+2) @ Houston 19 – With that win, the Pack is now in control of their own destiny for the Drive to #1 Draft Choice.
Jacksonville 21 (-3.5) @ St Louis 24 – Where, oh where did the Jag defense go?
Buffalo 16 @ New England 21 (-9-LOSS) – Or maybe not.
Miami 21 vs New Orleans 6 (-2.5) @ Baton Rouge – Doesn’t Nick Saban realize that Baton Rouge isn’t his home anymore?
Washington 0 @ NY Giants 36 (-2) – Maybe Stewart would have done better than the 11-28-65-0-1 that Brunell put up or the 3-6-62-0-0 line Patrick Ramsey did.
Oakland 34 (-1) @ Tennessee 25 – About time the coin was right.
Kansas City 20 (+6) @ San Diego 28 – I should’ve laid the lumber.
Tampa Bay 10 (-11) @ San Francisco 15 – The Caddy hit the wall – hard
Baltimore 19 @ Pittsburgh 20 (-10-LOSS) – The gambling references were tame this week.

Thus wraps up a 5-9 week, dropping me to 61-53-2.

The Racist Jentinel STILL does not get it

by @ 8:26. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Revisions/extensions (at the top this time) – James Wigderson checks in with Asterisk now, Asterisk forever, which includes a killer cartoon; Dad29 comments on the continued death of the paper; and Fred of RealDebateWisconsin took his comments national. Also, add Jessica McBride’s smashing of the illogic from the idiotorial board.

Oh, and add Betsy Brenner* to the list of bigots at the Racist Jentinel (H/T – Charlie Sykes). Time to once again expose the lies coming from 4th and State, with some help from LOCAL readers thoughtfully included by the somewhat-conservative Perspectives editor, Mabel Wong (whose co-workers probably believe she deserves an asterisk or two because she does not, in their bigoted views, represent “mainstream” female or “Asian-American” thought) –

A single sentence in a Nov. 1 editorial on the Supreme Court nomination of Samuel Alito attracted quite a lot of response, as you can see.

The central point of the editorial was Alito’s nomination and various red flags this raised, but we reserved judgment on whether he should be confirmed until hearings are completed. But a small portion of the editorial dealt with diversity on the court. The line read: “In losing a woman, the court with Alito would feature seven white men, one white woman and a black man, who deserves an asterisk because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America.”

Conservative talk radio seized on this last clause, and many respondents said they felt the line was racist, contending that we were implying Thomas is not black enough. Not at all. The sentence only meant to call attention to the lack of diversity the court will have if Alito is confirmed, a position that many others have stated as well. With the asterisk comment, we did indeed call attention in particular to Thomas, the sole African-American on the court. That’s because, though much progress has been made, we continue to believe that the condition of black Americans, particularly here in the Milwaukee area, remains quite dire in many important respects and deserving of acute attention and sensitivity at all levels of government.

Besides blaming talk radio and conservative readers for not understanding that only conservatives can be racist, I guess they just proved the point of Jonathan H. Koenig of Milwaukee…

The editorial “A nomination that will divide” condescendingly referred to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as “a black man, who deserves an asterisk because he arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America.”

Apparently African-American leaders must march in lock step with liberal ideology in order for their names to appear in print without an asterisk. This is freedom? Perhaps the “Milwaukee” in Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also deserves an asterisk, because, on this issue at least, the Editorial Board surely does not speak for “mainstream” Milwaukeeans.

As for the role of Supreme Court Justices, Lester Boretsky corrects the idiotorial board on the role of the judiciary. Rolling right along with the toxic spew from the idiotorial board…

Also, it’s clear that racial diversity was a factor in Thomas’ nomination to the Supreme Court, whether it was overtly stated or not. He replaced civil rights legend Thurgood Marshall on the court. We did not invent this issue.

I’ll take this one myself. So, are the idiots saying that we can only replace like with like, or that the only way that minorities can get on the Supreme Court is through affirmative action, with their qualifications counting for nothing? Inquiring minds want to know.

That Thomas’ stances while on the Supreme Court are outside the black mainstream is fairly evident, we believe, on such matters as the Voting Rights Act, affirmative action, diluting black voting power, proving discrimination and on what constitutes “cruel and unusual.”

The single sentence in this editorial did not say Thomas is not black because he departs from other views on these or other topics. It did not, as some respondents contended, insist that all black people must think alike. We are well aware that there is diversity of thought in the black community, but we are also aware that there are some fairly evident common themes derived from common experiences among African-Americans in the United States.

We were remarking, however, that the views this theme has helped shape elsewhere in the country are not always well-represented on the Supreme Court at this time.

Bull-fucking-shit! If the idiototiral board merely wanted to note that Justice Thomas departs regularily from “mainstream” black thought without declaring that he isn’t really black because he departs from “mainstream” black thought, here’s how that sentence would have read – “In losing a woman, the court with Alito would feature seven white men, one white woman and a black man, who arguably does not represent the views of mainstream black America.” However, they’re a bunch of lieberal bigots at 4th and State, so they couldn’t resist taking the shot.

11/3 – Night of the Long Knives, ‘Rat edition

by @ 9:08. Filed under Miscellaneous.

I’ll bet that Milwaukee ‘Rats like Brian Burke (D-Convict) and former Assembly ‘Rat leader Shirley Krug are wondering where the traditional power base was when the Madison ‘Rats were busy taking over the party and kicking them to the curb. They showed up in the form of AFSCME to protect Peg Lautenschlager after a bunch of Assembly ‘Rats (now led by Madison ‘Rat Jim Kreuser) and governor Jim “Craps” Doyle publicly urged Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk to run against her in 2006. This is not a mealy-mouthed defense that Madison ‘Rats have come to expect from defenders of their Pubbie targets; rather, AFSCME reacted as though Vince Biskupic had come back to challenge Keg….

If you are so terrified by polls, why aren’t you calling for someone to take on the top of the ticket, which today seems like anything but a sure thing for Democrats? Better yet, why don’t one of you step forward and make a statewide run if you think it could be done better. Oh, that’s right, you’d rather call on others to do your bidding. To do otherwise would show guts, something you not only lack, but also clearly fear when you see it exercised by a real leader.

I’m just going to sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the show.

Add O. Ricardo Pimentel* to the list of bigots at the Racist Jentinel

Editor and Publisher reports that O. Ricardo Pimentel*, editorial page editor of the Racist Jentinel, joined asterisk editorial writer Gregory Stanford* in the gutter and exposes himeslf as a moonbat –

Pimentel said he had no regrets about running the editorial, and had no plans for a column or other explanatory note about it. “I let it in as a statement of fact,” he said of the editorial. “That Clarence Thomas did not represent mainstream black thought. I think that is demonstrably true if you look at his rulings. A reasonable person could surmise that, saying he would weaken the voting rights act, outlaw affirmative action, dilute black voting power, make it difficult to prove various kinds of discrimination, and approve cruel and unusual punishment.”

For those that are intersted in making a financial statement, Journal Communications, the parent company, is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol JRN.

* An idiot whose views are not in the mainstream of the world outside of 4th and State, the East and North Sides of Milwaukee, and the heart of Madistan and thus outside the mainstream of the majority of potential readers of the paint catcher he works for.

Homer nods – fixed a link and fixed O. Ricardo Pimentel’s title

Project 21 denounces the asterisk editorial

Go, read. Proof that Gregory Stanford* is wrong.

* I suppose he doesn’t think that the various members of Project 21 are “real blacks”.

pEU pretty much bans “Christ”, but “christ” is okay

canadafreepress.com reports that by pEU diktat, Christ and Judiasm lose their capitalization in the Dutch language as of August 2006. WorldNetDaily has an expansion on the story, saying that the proper name of Jesus Christ – “Jezus Christus” in Dutch – will still be capitalized, with all other references stripped of capitalization. Also, the Dutch word for Jews – “Juden” – will only be capitalized when it refers to the nationality and specifically not capitalized when refering to the religion.

No word on whether the Dutch words for Islam and Muslim – “Islam” and “Moslim” respectively – will suffer the same fate. My guess is not.

Craps continues to act like a mob boss

by @ 7:58. Filed under Miscellaneous.

For those of you who don’t get the “Journal lite” suburban Milwaukee CNI newspapers (or happen to get it on a week where the edits decide not to carry any editorial commentary because they can’t find the less-than-handful of liberal readers to write in), Charlie Sykes does reprint his column weekly over at Sykes Writes. His latest outlines how, even as the governor is under a joint state/federal (by the stronger of the two US attorneys) into Wisconsin’s own Travelgate, and even as Chuck Chvala was cutting a deal on his corruption charges, he continued to shake down the equal-briber roadbuilders and the unique-to-Craps Indian gaming interests.

And Wisconsin USED to be known for its squeaky-clean government.
