This came in today from the Sean Duffy campaign:
Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District Republican Party today voted in overwhelming numbers to officially endorse Ashland County District Attorney Sean Duffy as their choice to defeat Chairman David Obey in November.
Of those who voted to endorse, Sean Duffy received 406 delegate votes, or 84 percent of the vote to Dan Mielke’s 78 delegate votes, or 16 percent of the vote.
“I’m humbled and extremely grateful to Republicans in the 7th District for their official endorsement. I’ve never seen the Party more unified or more energized. Our positive message of job creation and fiscal responsibility has clearly resonated,” said District Attorney Duffy. “Dave Obey’s big government spending spree has mortgaged our children’s future, slowed our economic recovery and driven American into record debt. The contrast between us is clear and simple – Obey puts his faith in government bureaucrats, and I put my faith in the American people.”
The Duffy for Congress Campaign has raised a record $400,000 – twice as much as any previous Obey challenger raised in an entire election cycle – while being highlighted by the Wall Street Journal and National Review Online, and named by the Washington Independent as the #3 conservative in America to watch in 2010.
Sean Duffy was first elected as Ashland County District Attorney in 2002 and has served in that role for seven years. As District Attorney, Duffy has aggressively compiled a 90 percent conviction rate. He is three-time World Champion Lumberjack athlete, ESPN Outdoor Games analyst, and former MTV Real World cast member.
Good luck Sean.
While Sean Duffy might feel good about the 7th’s endorsement, I would suggest that he be careful, and you be careful, when analyzing what it means. As one citizen, I do not agree that this signifies that the Party is so unified. My reading is that it is very splintered, perhaps hopelessly splintered. I might also suggest that endorsements such as this are meaningless, except that they produce nice press for the one getting the endorsement. I urge voters to ignore all endorsements, study the candidate on their own, and vote as they wish. The decision on Duffy vs. Mielke belongs to the individual voter, and that decision will be made at the ballot box in September.
Hey Ed,
Are you threatening people? You suggest Sean be careful? Well, let’s see, I suggest you not worry so much about the endorsement. If it means nothing, then you and your boy Mielke have nothing to worry about. The only one who decides if Mielke will be on the ballot is Mielke. But you don’t care about that. Your whole schtick is to spread lies and false information. I have been to your facebook page. You claim to hold real American Ideals, but yet you are guilty of the same tactics the Obama Administration is guilty of. Its too ba, you seem like someone that the Republicans could use to get Obey defeated. Too bad you drank too much kool-aid.
If you want to respond, tell me how the endorsement infringes on anyone’s right to vote? If Mielke gets enough signatures, he will be on the ballot. So what is your beef? Oh yes, I keep forgetting the obviousness of your supporting Mielke and not being an objective voter.
