Euna Lee and Laura Ling, two American journalists were sentenced to 12 years of hard labor after being accused of illegal entry and engaging in “hostile acts” by the government of North Korea.
After a brief personal visit and plea by former President Bill Clinton, the North Korean leader Kim Jong Il pardoned the women from their 12-year prison sentences.
Following their pardons, the two women were reported to have left North Korea accompanying former President Clinton on his private flight to Los Angeles.
Based on the events of the past 48 hours we now know that North Korea tortured these women with some form of mind incapacitating drugs or techniques.
How else would you explain two women volunteering to be confined for over 20 hours in an inescapable metal tube with Bill Clinton?
Are you serious with what you wrote here?
I think this matter is far to serious to be influenced by personal opinions. Whether or not, the 2 journalists made a mistake or not, ending up in North Korean hands is far worse than any punishment can ever be.
It can’t matter what we think about Bill Clinton but he managed to get them out and for that, if nothing else, we should thank him!
Langham…you need to lighten up or read more of my posts so you understand sarcasm and humor when you read it. As to Clinton getting them out…ah yeah, and Santa Claus still delivers your Christmas presents? Clinton took a plane trip, dutifully greased the ego of the N. Korean slime pot but didn’t get either of those women out of anything. He sucked up his ego and was an erand boy…for that he should receive thanks, along with appropriate levels of mocking.
