WisPolitics reports that the Republican National Committee has not bought any ads in the Eau Claire, Green Bay and Milwaukee markets for the week of 10/15-10/21. I do not know whether they had or still have buys in the Madison (doubtful), La Crosse or Wausau/Rhinelander markets. WisPolitics also notes that the McCain campaign still has buys active through the 19th.
I can’t say I’m surprised. While Wisconsin was the closest state in 2004 and one of the 3 closest in 2000, the ‘Rat Fraud Machine has solidified its position here over the last 8 years. Worse, recent polls, whose internals appear to be heavily-skewed against Republicans, show Obama with a double-digit lead.
If you don’t find me here 11/5, I’ll be face down.
Revisions/extensions (2:55 pm 10/15/2008 and re-arranged 4:27 pm 10/15/2008) – Word on the ClearChannel news stations (somehow had WOKY on instead of WISN) is that McCain will keep buying through the 26th.
Prediction: after November 4, the only Republican member of Congress from Wisconsin will be Jim Sensenbrenner, and that’s because he’s running unopposed. I don’t count Tom Petri. This deep blue tidal wave combined with massive voter fraud in the 1st CD will take out Paul Ryan.
You see something I don’t in the 1st, Peter? The only Congressional significance I see from this move is Kagen becomes Congresscritter-for-life.
If you don’t find me here 11/5, I’ll be face down.
Me, too Steve. What a nightmare that would be.
The 8th has been a strong GOP area for the most part other than Johnson in ’96 and now Kagen from my recollection. So the only way Kagen is a lifer (if Gard doesn’t pull off the upset) is if the GOP continues to put up John as an opponent. That everyone was convinced to step aside for John to get another shot is disappointing. There are better candidates in the 8th that could have/should have/will have to run.
Gard’s main problem is he didn’t attack at the opportune time. Although he did seem to play a role in Kagen actually voting against the “crap sandwich”. What would have helped is if he would have been actively out there telling people what HIS plan for change in Washington was. But just like in ’06 he didn’t.
Maybe it’s just my pessimism over the entire election, but Ryan’s margins of victory have been getting smaller and smaller. ACORN is highly active in all of the urban areas in the 1st CD and I think combined with this being a big Democrat year to begin with and The Messiah will have extremely long coattails, longer than the Blue Surge in ’06 which got Wisconsin a completely unqualified state treasurer simply for having a D behind her name, Ryan will be one of the victims of the Blue Tidal Wave. His eventual support of the pork laden bailout bill isn’t helping him.
Wonder what office the Stupid Party will run the incompetent John Gard for next? We already know they’ve anointed J.B. Van RINO to run against Doyle in 2010. They must love losing. It’s sado-masochistic.
