Sorry about that

by @ 3:15. Filed under The Blog.

When I upgraded to WordPress 2.2, one of the critical files for the RSS feeds didn’t upload properly, and thus the feeds broke. Because I use FeedBurner, you didn’t notice a thing (other than the lack of updates), and I didn’t find out until I checked my e-mail. In any case, it’s fixed.

A bit of housekeeping

by @ 16:48. Filed under The Blog.

I’ve been busy the last hour or so upgrading to the current version of WordPress (2.2), the current beta version of Journalized, my current theme (2.0 beta 2), and the almost-ready-for-release version of WP-Polls, which will allow for multiple answers if I choose (2.20). I know I lost a comment or two, so if you’ve been here between about 2:30 and 4:30 this afternoon and don’t see your comment up, please resend it to the thread you put it in.

Sorry about that.

R.I.P. United States of America (1789-2007)

by @ 14:49. Filed under Immigration, Politics - National.

Now that Jorge Bush (the last President of the USA) got a party in Congress that he can really deal with, he’s reached a bipartisan deal to surrender the United States of America to the DhimmiRATs and Mexicans by granting citizenship to every illegal alien within 13 years. Brush up on your Spanish, folks; it will be one of the two official languages of Caliphate Mexicano Del Norte, along with Arabic.

Add another pistol to the BBA Spring Shoot

by @ 20:12. Filed under Guns.

This is your semi-regular reminder that we will be at McMiller’s Sports Center on Saturday starting at 10 am. Be there or be nowhere.

A confirmed list of guns that will be there…

  • .30-06 rifle with scope
  • .22 rifle with scope
  • .17HMR rifle with scope
  • MAK-90 (modified AK-47) “assault” rifle in 7.62x39mm caliber
  • 12-gauge shotgun (if Chris remembers it this time :-) The clay range is closed on Saturdays – DAMMIT!
  • .44 Magnum revolver
  • Beretta PX4 Storm (.40 caliber)
  • Glock 27 (.40 caliber)

And one more…

In something less than 48 hours, I’ll be the proud owner of a Smith and Wesson SW40VE pistol (.40 S&W) with the 14-round magazine. Many thanks to Gander Mountain for a nice, quick, pain-free purchase.

Pubbies debate – Round 2 (this was a live/open thread)

by @ 19:16. Filed under Politics - National.

Revisions/extensions (07:36 5/16/2007) – Just so you’re not confused about the “DING”s, that’s the bell that Fox News used to let everybody know one of these jokers passed their time limit, not me agreeing with any particular thing that one of these jokers said.

After proving that they’re braver than the Dems by debating on The Main Enemy’s Network (in the Pubbies’ case, MSNBC), Fox News proudly presents Round 2 among the 10 announced Pubbie candidates from South Carolina tonight at 8 Central. Burning questions:

– Will Rudy Giuliani further alienate himself among conservatives?
– How will John McCain mark the passing of Jerry Falwell?
– How many times will Tommy Thompson have a “hearing aid failure”?
– Do ANY of these jokers have a chance against Fred Thompson when he finally announces?

Joining in the live-blogging – Sister Toldjah, who deserves the break after suffering through MSNBC, and Free Republic, and Hot Air (added at 19:37), and Ace of Spades, who’s hosting the drinking games (added 19:58)

19:27 (I don’t feel like typing “p.m.”; deal with it) – Sean Hackbarth has a few more questions. My favorite, especially since I don’t recall any South Carolina sports heroes – “What local sports hero will Sen. Sam Brownback slight?”

19:32 – Somebody slap some sense into Ted Olson. Ted, you’re a great guy, but Rudy is a liberal.

19:48 – Katon Dawson (SC GOP Chair) advocates pandering. Also, it seems the Fox clock is a bit fast.

19:51 – The candidates are up on the stage for pre-debate photo ops, and Alan Colmes is wondering who will run the furthest away from President Bush (my money’s on Ron Paul).

20:00 – We go live to Brit Hume.

20:01 – Ground rules – 1 minute to answer, 30 seconds to rebut at the discretion of Hume, and we’ve got the bell instead of the buzzer. No react on Falwell because there’s been enough.

20:05 – Chris Wallace – McCain, why should Americans continue to die if Iraqis aren’t stepping up? If we fail in Iraq, we will see Iraq become a haven for Al Qaeda and they will follow us home. The surge is a good strategy. Says war has been mishandled, Maliki government needs to step up.

20:06 – Wallace – Tommy, explain your plan to force the Iraqi government to vote on our presence and split the oil revenues. If the 18 provinces elected their government like we elected governors, blah, blah, blah.

20:07 – Wallace – Romney, would you pull out without victory? No, brings up the Caliphate.

20:08 – Wallace – Brownback, should we as a country pull together? Yes, blasts the DhimmiRATs for pushing for defeat. Pushes a weak federal/strong 3-state solution. DING DING DING!

20:10 – Wallace – Rudi, is your commitment to win open-ended unlike the Senate “Pubbies” who want us out in September if there’s no progress? Brings up the Fort Dix 6

20:12 – Wallace – Tancredo, are you giving the Islamokazis a timetable? Trying to retreat from a retreat-and-defeat. DING DING! Wallace – Paul, “Are you running for the nomination of the wrong party?” – Quagmire! Brings up Reagan’s retreat from Beirut. DING DING!

20:14 – Hunter – As we get the Iraqi Army up, we’re going to get the heavy troops out.

20:15 – Huckabee – You better get the best advice you can.

20:16 – Question from Harry in Boston – “Would you do a pre-emptive strike against Iran?” Gilmore – Continue the EU3 approach.

20:18 – Golner taking over – Whacks “Flip Flop Mitt” on the tax issue. Romney claims he didn’t raise taxes (must’ve went to the Craps School of Tax Issues). Add Michelle Malkin to the liveblogging brigade.

20:20 – McShame defending his opposition to the Bush tax cuts by saying nobody cut spending.

20:21 – Line of the night from Huckabee – Congress “has spent money like John Edwards in a beauty shop”, as he pushes the “Fair”Tax.

20:22 – Golner whacking Rudi on his free-spending ways in NYC.

20:23 – Brownback pushing corn-a-hole, biodiesel, drilling, conservation (in that order) as the answer to high gas prices. Be “energy-secure in North America in 15 years.”

20:24 – Brian from Ft Wayne – “What would you do to control pork spending?”. Tommy not telling the whole truth about Wisconsin (he merely spent like McCain’s drunken sailor instead of the Rat Legislature’s planned passed-out sailor). Would eliminate the CDC stockpile program, couldn’t list 2 others.

20:26-20:28 – Paul would kill Energy, Education, Homeland Security. DING DING!

20:29 – Third Rail of Social Security is out there for Gilmore. Pushes caps, culture change to self-sufficiency, tax cuts. All-but-calls out Rudi and McShame.

20:30 – Hunter on trade – Enforce the trade laws with Red China, zero out the manufacturing taxes. “Arsenal of Democracy is leaving our shores.”

20:31 – Tancredo – Pubbies lost the mantle of fiscal responsibility. Takes whacks at No Child Left Behind, MediScare Part D. DING DING!

20:32 – BREAK!!!

20:36 – Wallace is back. Gilmore asked about the shots taken at the opposition. Breaks out the abortion record of Rudi, the tax-hiking of Huckabee and gubmint health care plan of Romney by name.

20:37 – Rudi, are pro-abortion/pro-gun-grab/pro-DhimmiRAT stands true conservatism? – “I don’t think Rudy McRomney would make a bad ticket.” BOOO!!!!! Starts taking shots at Hitlery’s outright Communism. Didn’t answer in 1 minute, then goes back to Club for Growth.

20:40 – McShame, are tax hikes, amnesty and speech silencing true conservatism? – It’s bipartisanship, baby. Whacking Islamofascism uber alles.

20:41 – Huckabee, are tax hikes true conservatism? – I don’t apologize for raising taxes and government spending.

20:43 – Romney, are gun-grabbing, gay rights (back in 1994, Romney was proud to be more pro-homosex than The Swimmer), and pro-abortion true conservatism? – I’m as conservative as Taxachusetts can stand.

20:44 – Brownback, is amnesty true conservatism? – Yes, just as it was in 1986. DING DING!

20:45 – Back to Wendell asking The Other Thompson about stem cells – There’s enough stem cells, embryonic and otherwise, to not destroy any more embryos.

20:47 – Rudi – slavery bad, abortion good.

20:48 – Huckabee – Life begins at conception. Amen.

20:49 – Wendell trying to goad Brownback into allowing abortion on demand for rape victims. No dice, as it IS a child.

20:50 – Wendell trying to goad Romney into going back to his pro-abort state. Romney’s “Road to Damascus” moment was looking at rows of embryos destined to be destroyed for research.

20:52 – Finally back to Wallace asking Tancredo about immigration. Line of the night part two – “I believe those conversions when they happen on the Road to Damascus and not the Road to De Moines”.

20:53 – McShame proud of the pending Amnesty Lite.

20:56 – Romney wants those here illegally to first go home then apply legally. McShame-Swimmer will do to immigration what McShame-Slimeroad did to campaign finance.

20:57 – Rebuttal from McShame – I’m proud of the McShame-Slimeroad Lieberal Protetion Act.

20:58 – Rudi pressed on his old line of wanting illegals in NYC. Pushes biometrics and a national ID. DING DING!

20:59 – Scott from Colorado Springs – “How would you prevent illegals from using social services?”. Hunter – I built the San Diego border fence. Rips Bush for a “case of the slows” on the border fence. Removal of the revolving door would help.

21:00 – Wendell back – Paul, since you’re an isolationist, are you running for the wrong nomination? – Paul ignores recent history to spew ancient history. DING DING! Wendell whacks back by asking whether 9/11 changed anything – Paul still wants to go back to Fortress America.

21:03 – Rudi whacks Paul for saying that Iraq was the reason for 9/11. Make that WHACK.

21:04 – Royce from Philly – “Should SC fly the Confederate flag from state buildings?”. McCain – It shouldn’t have been a state issue (follow-up, whose issue is it then?), and I’m glad it’s no longer on top of the state Capitol.

21:06 – Huckabee asked about some guy who got paroled while he was governor who committed a heinous crime. Started blaming the parole board and the previous governor, said he denied clemency but fessed up to not having perfect foresight when it came out he said the con met the conditions for a parole hearing.

21:07 – Wendell brings up Gorebal Warming. Tancredo – I don’t quite buy it, but I want to cut petroleum products for security reasons. Oh, and Paul, you’re an ass.

21:10 – BREAK!

21:13 – Brit large and in charge. Premise – We’ve been hit by suicide bombers 3 times at shopping centers and a 4th attack was averted when we caught them and sent them to Club Gitmo. We think they have info on more planned attacks. McCain, how far would you go? It’s on my head, and I still oppose torture.

21:15 – Rudi, should waterboarding be used? – If we knew the terrorists had the info, use every means necessary.

21:16 – Romney, same question. – The key’s prevention. I’d be glad that they’re at Club Gitmo away from the lawyers. “We should double Guantamino.” “Enanced interrogation”, not torture.

21:17 – Brit adds to this – we’ve found out they trained in West Africa in a country that is hostile to us. Tommy, what would you do? – Trust, but verify, then kick ass.

21:18 – Brownback, would you go to the UN? HELL NO! American lives matter more than international opinion. Shoot first, apologize later.

21:19 – Hunter, same questions – Let’s kick ass quickly.

21:20 – McShame, are “enhanced interrogation” techniques torture? – Yes (I hope you don’t watch “24”, McShame).

21:21 – Gilmore, what would you do to protect the economy in this attack? – I have the experience because the Pentagon is in Virginia. I would tell the UN we’re kicking ass, and if you want in, come on in, and if you don’t, stay out of our way. Pushes info sharing. DING DING!

21:22 – Huckabee, what economic policies would you change? – It was good for President Bush to urge us back onto planes and into malls, but it will never be business as usual. Sacrifice as in WWII.

21:23 – Paul, same question (pointing out tax cuts helped) – Cut taxes, cut spending. Dances around the torture issue, and adopts the DhimmiRAT line on Afghanistan.

21:25 – Tancredo – “I’m looking for Jack Bauer.” I don’t recall Brit saying these were nukes.

21:26 – Finishing with Wallace – What does it say that there’s no woman or minority in the Gang of 10? Gilmore – Brought up the church burnings. Wallace pushes for an answer. They haven’t stood up yet.

21:29 – Romney, what flip-flops did you do that made you less popular with Pubbies? – No Child Left Behind, because I supported killing Dept. of Ed. back in 1994.

21:30 – Wendell – Hunter, is the ChiComs holding boku Treasury bonds a security threat? – Yes, and their arming is also a a threat.

21:30 – OVER AND OUT!

So, who won? I think the easier answer is, “Who lost?” Let’s start with Truther Ron Paul. He’s a 19th-century Fortress America guy in a 21st-century world. John McCain definitely is a one-note pony, and he’s not even all that strong on that one note. The Other Thompson is way out of his league, and considering that this league doesn’t have any stars, that’s saying a lot. Mitt Romney once again has proven that he’s the Republican John Kerry. Rudy Giuliani, while incredibly strong on his one note of national security, is anything but conservative. The rest of the field didn’t get much face time.

Bring on Fred!

One last update (22:32) – Allow me to explain The Other Thompson’s “1,900 veto” claim. Wisconsin has the broadest partial veto in the nation, and Tommy took it to such an extreme, the state Supreme Court said he could no longer strike individual characters (funny how they went to the tall grass when Jim “Craps” Doyle rewrote entire pages via the partial-veto pen). The 1,900 number is the number of times he struck letters/numbers/words from the budget.

BBA Spring Shoot – Sat 5/19 at 10 am

by @ 16:31. Filed under Miscellaneous.

If it’s May, it’s allergy season. Nothing’s really caught my eye between yesterday and today, so I’ll simply remind you that the BBA Spring Shoot is this Saturday at McMiller’s. Bring yourself, $14 for an all-day pass, a couple bucks for earplugs (unless you already have some; you do need them), and if you have a few guns, them and ammo (don’t worry if you’re unarmed, there will be guns there). Be there or be nowhere.

Who would we retaliate against for an Islamic nuke?

by @ 8:09. Filed under War on Terror.

I’m a bit late in bringing this party to the Cheddarsphere, and I really should’ve done it Thursday as it was one of the topics Uncle J and I discussed. The New York Times reported on Tuesday that the feds are trying to figure out whether we would retaliate if a nuke were detonated by Islamokazis on American soil. There’s been an interesting discussion at Hot Air, where Allahpundit brought it up for discussion.

I said that I subscribed to the Curtis E. LeMay School of International Relations and said I would nuke everybody in response, specifically saying that Mecca should be no more (not even rubble). For those that say that would get the Muslims mad at us, I have a news flash – damn near all of them are already mad enough to work toward our extermination.

Uncle J had, on reflection, a better take. He’d wipe out the modern military capabilities of all the rogue nuclear states…with conventional weapons “because we don’t know WHO nuked us, so we can’t use nukes” (if I flubbed the quote, please correct me, UJ).

Hence, I’ve got a fresh poll up (at least it should be up by the time you read this). Vote there, discuss here.

Who should we retaliate against if the Islamokazis nuke the US?

Up to 1 answer(s) was/were allowed

  • We nuke Islam's "holy" sites, no questions asked. (32%, 7 Vote(s))
  • After determining which group it was, send the B-52s in for the nuclear Grand Tour of their bases of operations. (23%, 5 Vote(s))
  • After determining which group it was, we send the B-52s on a conventional Grand Tour of their bases of operation. (18%, 4 Vote(s))
  • We nuke Waziristan, the current home of Al Qaeda, no questions asked. (14%, 3 Vote(s))
  • We nuke the supplier(s) of the nukes. (5%, 1 Vote(s))
  • We wage conventional war on the supplier(s) of the nukes. (5%, 1 Vote(s))
  • Something I missed (please explain in the thread) (5%, 1 Vote(s))
  • We lay waste to Islam's "holy" sites with conventional weapons, no questions asked. (0%, 0 Vote(s))
  • No one because that would be "wrong". (0%, 0 Vote(s))
  • No one because we're waving the French battle flag (aka white flag of unconditional surrender) (0%, 0 Vote(s))

Doyle wants you to protest high gas prices by…

by @ 7:22. Filed under Business, Politics - Wisconsin, Taxes.

…supporting higher gas taxes. Yes, you heard me right; to protest $3.40/gallon gas, Jim “Craps” Doyle wants you to pay $3.49/gallon(once the inevitable half-cent rounding occurs). Only a stupid lieberal who has no concept of the free market would think that increasing the amount of money government takes from the sale of a commodity would decrease the price of that commodity.

If only I had the audio from the 6 pm WTMJ-AM newscast from yesterday to go along with this, but since I don’t have recording software on my machine and I was in my car at the time, you’ll just have to rely on my memory.

Lost weekend catchup

by @ 6:40. Filed under Miscellaneous.

Damn allergies. Even the full-blown Claritin-D hasn’t been keeping up. Let’s see what I missed over the weekend:

Brett Favre supposedly wants out after the Randy Moss deal fell through. There are no good guys here. Favre is an idiot for thinking that Moss either wanted to play here or would actually play hard here, and Wile E. Thompson (mud) needs to be fired post haste for doing absolutely, positively nothing to address any of the 3 biggest concerns the Packers had (RB, TE and WR).

The Thompson Twins crushed the competition at the RPW convention Presidential straw poll. Fred, who hasn’t announced yet, took 95 of the 306 votes cast, while Tommy (The Other) took 84. In a bad sign for Rudi, Mitt Romney outdid him for 3rd, 41-35. Oh, and stick a fork in McShame; when Sam Brownback gets 14 and the other unannounced candidate on the straw poll ballot, Newt Gingrich, gets 12 to your 10, you’re done. Also, Scott Walker, who will be running for Milwaukee County executive again in 2008 in an attempt to keep the tax-and-spend-and-tax-and-spend Board in line, crushed the competition in the gubernatorial straw poll, getting 142 of the 306 votes cast.

– In the good news/bad news of fire department, the good news is Tuscarora, my canoe outfitter, survived the ongoing Ham Lake Fire with nary a burn (just a lost shed and fort lost in the first hours of the fire). Same with most of the other outfitters on the end of the Gunflint Trail, and nobody has been injured. The bad is a lot of people lost their cabins and homes up there, and Wilderness Canoe Base got wiped out. Also, the route Oly, his nephew and I intended to take this year ended up in the path of the fire.

Why was the Egg in Madtown last night?

by @ 18:58. Filed under Miscellaneous.

I finally got to meet Uncle Jimbo and (briefly) Kev, the brains behind the Friday Freefly, and throw back a few Bacardi and cokes with a great guy at Wando’s. Random tidbits (I really should’ve done this this morning, but I simply ran out of time):

– Land Warrior is an interesting concept. The only problem with it is that it adds yet another 16 pounds to the load of the average trooper, who’s already lugging somewhere north of 80 pounds into battle, and that tends to make the grunts unhappy.

– To be President, you have to be a good manager and “look” Presidential. The current field lacks that.

– For those of you who are looking for Fred, he doesn’t have to come in just yet. The ideal time, assuming that things don’t fall apart in Iraq, would be in the early fall.

– A special to the accounting grad students that were next to us – if you order the Wando’s Fish Bowl, shut up and drink. Don’t try to dicker over the bill because no matter what the bartender throws in, it’s going to cost you the same because you’ll get the same amount of alcohol.

– It’s far better to actually source the material than to follow the crowd.

It was great to take that road trip. For the rest of you, put Blackfive on your blogrolls and subscribe to Uncle J’s YouTube channel (just in case I forget to point you to a Freefly or In The Crosshairs).

Roll bloat – the Miracle-Gro edition

by @ 9:00. Filed under Miscellaneous.

It’s spring and the grass, or at least the weeds, are growing. Guess it’s time to feed the blogroll with the following:

  • Eject! Eject! Eject! – Bill Whittle comes highly recommended by Uncle Jimbo. Now that I’ve been pointed in the right direction, I’m highly recommending him too.
  • Ace of Spades HQ – How I didn’t link to Ace before now I will never know.
  • JSOnline – Partly because I link to P-Mac, and partly because they’re my best source of material, it’s time to put them back on the Media Links.
  • Madison’s Isthmus – Yeah, they’re mostly nuts, but anybody who carries Charlie and has Uncle J dragging them into the 21st Century can’t be all bad.

They’re dropping like flies

by @ 8:45. Filed under Politics - National.

First, Tommy (The Other) Thompson turned a minor gaffe in the MSNBC South Carolina debate when answering a question on whether a small business could fire a homosexual (a trap question if there ever was one) into a big one by apologizing again and again and again and again and again and again after first blaming his hearing aid. Memo for Tommy; unless you are the most-liberal Pubbie in a primary or a ‘Rat, apologizing again and again and again and again after inserting your foot in your mouth is only going to encourage the presstitutes to keep going after you. Last I checked, while you’re no conservative, there are at least 2 candidates more liberal than you in the Pubbie primary.

Then, ABC News tries to make a big deal over a donation that Ann Romney, Mitt’s wife made to Planned Parenthood back when both Romneys were pro-abortion (H/T – Matt Lewis). Do note that there is no evidence that Mitt, the Republican version of Flipper Kerry, donated to Planned Parenthood.

Now, mere hours after that meltdown, The New York Times is reporting Rudy Giuliani, who actually did donate to Planned Parenthood in the past, is planning on reaffirming his pro-abortion creds in a bid to use the large liberal states of Super Duper Tuesday to get him the nomination (H/T – Allahpundit and Jim Robinson). I don’t think I can put it better than AP – “Or, to put it slightly differently, ignore the deep red states he needs to win in November in favor of blue states he has little chance of stealing from the Democrats. Sounds like a plan.” (emphasis in the original).

And this one is a special for Nick. Ace dug up a few video and audio clips of Ron Paul channeling Rosie O’Donnell on Iran, 9/11, and the Fed. OOPS!

I think Uncle Jimbo is right when he said that Fred Thompson doesn’t need to get in just yet. By the time September rolls around, I expect nobody will be left on the Republican side to oppose him.

Jack Bauer Appreciation Day – 5/9/2007

by @ 12:32. Filed under Miscellaneous.

I don’t have time to fully-celebrate Jack Bauer Appreciation Day, dammit. However, I give you my word that I will not eat Chinese food today, and that if you join me in appreciating the alpha ass-kicker that is Jack Bauer, he will not go kick your ass as part of Season 7.

Quote of the day – 5/9/2007

by @ 12:20. Filed under Politics - National.

(H/T – Phel, who wishes it would work for her)

This little gem comes to us out of the mouth of Barak Hussein Obama explaining away his “10,000 dead” line –

“There are going to be times when I get tired,” he said. “There are going to be times when I get weary. There are going to be times when I make mistakes.”

Every Pubbie wishes that it would work for them. Unfortunately, unless you’ve got the “D” after your name and you have a natural tan or a last name of “Clinton” or “Kennedy”, it doesn’t.

Vent vs. the McGee/Jacksons

Only one little problem with today’s Vent; Michelle and Bryan forgot to give credit to Patrick at Badger Blogger for being all over the two jokers. Just in case you came here from HotAir and somehow missed my comment there, go over and give him some props.

Some serious Bravo Zulo outgoing

by @ 10:07. Filed under Business, Politics - Wisconsin.

From JSOnline’s DayWatch

The Wisconsin Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (link to the national organization added) said Wednesday that eight organizations have earned its Above and Beyond awards for supporting their employees serving in the guard and reserve (sic).

The ESGR’s highest state-level award, the Pro Patria Award, went to West Salem Middle School and the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. Representatives from the school received honors last month at a banquet in Green Lake, along with six others honorees:

* The Oshkosh Elks Club

* Deluxe Media Services of Pleasant Prairie

* Frito Lay Inc. of Beloit

* Oshkosh Truck Co.

* Voith Paper Rolls Central

* Weather Central

“Now more than ever it’s important to have employers backing our Reserve component members,” Michael Smith, executive director of the Wisconsin ESGR, said in a statement. “It’s been more than five years since 9-11, and we are seeing (our) citizen Soldiers and Airmen called up for second and third overseas deployments.”…

Again, Bravo Zulo to all 8 employers for stepping up and supporting those in the Guard and Reserve, as well as every other employer that does so.

Reparations – the Guam gambit part 2

by @ 15:25. Filed under Politics - National.

Revisions/extensions (3:41 pm 5/8/2007) – The roll is up, and I’m calling them out.

And it’s a payday, not only for the residents of Guam, but also blacks and Indians, as the House passed the double-dip reparations bill by a veto-proof majority. I’ll have the roll up shortly, but The sad-sack 288-133 roll is now up, and I do have a special message for the 66 RINOs that went along with all but 3 Rats, and this includes you, Paul Ryan – I hope you feel real good about yourselves when the resolutions to spend billions upon billions to give “reparations” to blacks for being slaves and Indians for being here come up and get passed.

Make no mistake; this was not about giving a few thousand dollars more to every man, woman and child in Guam who can trace their ancestry to WWII. This was all about establishing the modern precedent for giving the Rats’ biggest constituency a major payday.

John Doe saves lives

by @ 15:08. Filed under War on Terror.

(A big tip of the “John Doe” cap to Michelle Malkin)

The Atlantic City Press has the praise that US Attorney Christopher J. Christie heaped on the anonymous camera shop owner who tipped off the FBI to the Albanian Islamokazis who wanted to “thank” America for its support of the Islamist causes in the Balkans by killing as many soldiers as they could…

Christie called the camera shop owner that alerted federal authorities an American hero. The suspected terrorists had gone to the shop about 16 months ago to transfer training videos from video tape to DVD’s.

“The camera store owner saw Muslim men in military garb toting weapons in the woods. He heard them talking about jihad and how Allah was great. He called the FBI and became a hero,” Christie said….

Christie used the camera shop owner to convince the 50 local merchants at the Tuesday luncheon to report suspicious activity. He said people have become too complacent about terrorism.

“If you see something suspicious pick up the phone and call local police or the FBI. The only stupid call is the call you don’t make. Imagine if the camera store owner didn’t call the FBI,” Christie said.

Remember, If you see something, say something. Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom. (Oh, and that provided an excuse to repost the John Doe video.)

Revisions/extensions (6:43 am 5/9/2007, with more material from Michelle) – Part 1 – The Pocono Record says there was a second John Doe that helped the authorities connect the dots to the Islamokazis’ Poconos “target practice”. Bravo Zulu, Randy Swiden.

Part 2 – Frank Gaffney reports the DhimmiRATs are trying to deep-six the attempt to protect us John Does from CAIR.

Do not trust gubmint – the Washington County edition

by @ 13:02. Filed under Business, Politics - Wisconsin.

JSOnline’s DayWatch reports the Washington County Board reneged on a $4 million payment to Cabela’s, which it agreed to provide in September 2005 as an incentive for Cabela’s to build in the Town of Richfield. Washington County Attorney Kim Nass warned that there would be “risks” if the board reneged on making this payment, but she didn’t specify. Well, I can think of two:

  • Cabela’s will almost certainly sue for the money. Guess what, sports fans up in what used to be the most-conservative county in the state? Once the courts are done with this, it’s going to cost you far more than the $4 million whether or not Cabela’s gets its money.
  • Other companies considering Washington County to move to will properly see the county as an entity that cannot be trusted. Considering Wisconsin is a tax hell, the inability to offer tax breaks and taxpayer cash without being laughed out of the room is not going to be an asset in the competition for business.

Washington County would have been better off if it never signed that deal.

And it’s definitely a must-view, especially for the moonbat-of-the-day, Phil, who might actually learn something. I proudly present today’s In The Crosshairs, where Uncle Jimbo whacks governance-by-poll.

Islamokazi gratitude, the Albanian edition

by @ 8:26. Filed under War on Terror.

(H/Ts – Allahpundit and JammieWearingFool. Also, there is a strong-language warning, which is why I didn’t actively trackback to them because they’re a bit calmer than I am.)

The AP may have scrubbed all references of the Religion of Pieces, Islam, from their current 8 am story on 6 Islamokazis who planned on storming Fort Dix to kill as many soldiers as they could (credit to FoxNews.com, they switched off the crAP dispatch), but we’ll stick with The Star Ledger because they didn’t bow to the political correctness…

Federal investigators last night arrested six men who were planning a heavily-armed armed attack against soldiers at Fort Dix as part of a jihad against America, according to two law enforcement sources.

The men had conducted surveillance of the Army base and were caught allegedly attempting to purchase AK-47s to carry out their plan, one of the sources said.

The bust came after several of them were lured to a meeting with an arms-seller who turned out to be a secret FBI informant, said both sources, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the arrests.

The would-be attackers, ethnic Albanians who had been under surveillance by the FBI for months, practiced by shooting paintball guns and real weapons in a rural area of the Poconos, one source said. They also allegedly watched jihadist videos in which Osama bin Laden urged them toward martyrdom….

Tell me again why we went to war for these goatfuckers. Tell me how getting an F-117 shot down was worth it. I dare you, Madeline Halfbright. I double-fucking-dog dare you, S(l)ick Willie. Tell me why the fuck we still have troops over there protecting these fucking ingrates, Bush.

Revisions/extensions (9:50 am 5/8/2007) – Part 1 – AP is once again acknowledging that they might be “Islamic militants”, while Fox News has filed its own dispatch under the link that had gone to a previous AP version (hence the switch of the source of the then-current AP story). The crAP, being the presstitutes they are, couldn’t let it go without spewing the obligatory claims that Islam is “really” a religion of peace, not pieces.

Part 2 – Fox News is reporting that 3 of these ethnic Albanian Islamokazis were here illegally. Guess open borders isn’t such a great idea.

Part 2.5 – Can we stop with the spin that this was a “homegrown” plot?

Further revisions/extensions (10:13 am 5/8/2007) – WNBC in New York has the criminal complaint (H/T – Peter).

Since the boys at Blogs4Bauer seem to have been overcome with Sentox (but not before bRight & Early got this week’s Kill CounterChallenge up, I guess I’m going to have to pick up the slack. I won’t have any eye candy, mainly because Russet Potato Face hacked her way into the Miss Blogs4Bauer contest at the expense of the Michelle Dessler.

Viewer discretion is advised (as well as reader discretion). Patsy Ramsey and Jack Jr are back?

Revisions/extensions (8:03 pm 5/7/2007) – B4B is in play, so I’m shutting down.

Reason #538 to not introduce socialized medicine

by @ 17:30. Filed under Lawsuit madness, Politics.

I missed where Jeff Wagner (who needs to go through the 12-step lawyer-recovery program again) got this story, but I knew Allahpundit would come through as he always does. Sky News relays the story of one John Brandrick from Newquay, Cornwall, England. Two years ago, Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske diagnosed him with terminal pancreatic cancer with a 6- to 12-month life expectancy. So, he did what any self-worshiping moron would do in that situation; he quit his job, stopped paying his rent, and spent all his money.

Needless to say, they screwed up the diagnosis, and eventually determined (after he survived past a year) non-fatal pancreatitis. Now, like any good lieberal, he wants his many Pounds of flesh (side note; God bless the Brits for not signing onto the Euro). The money quote – “But if you haven’t got any money – it was my fault, I spent it all – they should pay something back.”

Unlike Jeff (and like Charlie’s producer, Joe Scialfa), I have absolutely, positively no sympathy for this idiot. Take a look at the money quote. Mr. Brandrick admitted that his current financial condition is all his fault. If I were a judge, I would read that part of the quote back to him as I dismissed the suit. It definitely is true that a fool and his money are soon parted.

That having been said, this illustrates a pair of big problems with socialized medicine. First, where would Mr. Brandrick have gone for a second (or third, or fourth) opinion, like any self-respecting American would? Another gubmint-run hospital, staffed with gubmint-employed doctors that would have made the same 3rd-rate “diagnosis”. Second, just how did they make that diagnosis? Geez, you would think they would have been bright enough to perform a biopsy after finding the tumor, but I’ll bet that step was taken out in the interests of gubmint-ordered “cost control”.

Reparations – the Guam gambit

by @ 16:50. Filed under Politics - National.

There are so many things wrong with House Resolution 1595. Let’s start with the premise that the United States is under any current obligation to pay off the residents of Guam for atrocities committed by Imperial Japan during WWII, especially since we did so in 1945-1946 (link to the text of the Guam Meritorious Claims Act of 1945). Indeed, there is no provision in the current resolution against double-dipping.

Second, we’re talking about $126 million for this double-dip. Here I thought the Feds were in a budget crunch.

Item #3 in the failure of this smell test – what in the hell is Guam’s observer doing introducing legislation? Last I checked, Guam was not a state.

Finally, with a hat-tip to Fred (I would have got to this on my own, but Fred got to it before I clicked on the co-sponsors), why in the hell is F. James Sensenbrenner co-sponsoring this money-wasting abortion? I noticed that not even Gwen Moore is sponsoring it.
