In today’s paint catcher (because I refuse to sully dead fish or insult the intelligence of birds with that “product”), the idiots at 4th and State* make the ridiculous claim that yelling obsenities who call the police on you for engaging in suspicious activity should be considered acceptable behavior. By calling Michael McGee Jr. an un-asterisked African-American, while earlier calling Justice Clarence Thomas one that deserves an asterisk for “not representing the views of mainstream black America”, they made the assertion that one must be willing to yell obsenities at the drop of a hat and deliver DVDs to friends not at their homes or during normal business hours but in the parking lots of businesses that are closed for the night (if you believe, like the idiotorial board, that paricular explanation for McGee’s presence in that lot at that particular time) to be considered “black”. For that matter, by extending the un-asterisked name to McGee, they also insinuate that bashing gays and threatening police officers is also part of the “true black” experience.
Oh, one more thing; why no mention in the idiotorial of McGee’s claim in the police report on this incident that the reason he was in that parking lot was not to give a friend a DVD on non-violence, but because his friend left her car in the lot? Another thing that deserves a full investigation is just why Michael McGee Jr. was in that lot at that time of night. I’ll even be helpful and suggest the one legitimate reason for him being there for 23-30 minutes; his friend’s car had broken down and he didn’t want her to wait alone for AAA (of course, this is something that would have been reflected in either the police report or in McGee’s continuing statements, and since it isn’t,….).
