The repository of one hard-boiled egg from the south suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (and the occassional guest-blogger). The ramblings within may or may not offend, shock and awe you, but they are what I (or my guest-bloggers) think.Thu, 10 Nov 2011 16:31:14 +0000

And whatever you have to say about the man (and I can say plenty…little of it printable in public), the one thing you can’t say is that he was anything less than 100% effective in getting his side’s ideas translated into government policy, implemented, and made so sticky they have sometimes appeared to be permanent.
Gingrich will never be as good a man as Reagan. But I think he might just possibly be a better president.
It’s almost too bad he’ll never get the chance.

Newt’s smart, yup. But he’s the very picture of ‘geek’–the guy you keep in a closed room, sliding pizza under the door to feed him, and NEVER EVER letting him out where the customers can see him, because you never know what he’s going to say in public.
VP, yes. Policy role in WH, yes (note: keep the door closed.) Adviser to POTUS? Yes.
Otherwise, Santorum or Perry.

First, he’s the smartest guy in the group and with nearly no exception, has a policy answer that is conservative (OK, we have to work on his answer to ethanol a bit).
Ethanol, Gorebal “Warming”, his opposition to the FY2012 House budget, the idea that 47% of Americans not pay any income tax and indeed somewhere around 40% have no federal tax liability whatsoever,…. Just a few items Gingrich has to “work on”.

His tenure as House Speaker, his personal problems, and his mercurial nature after elective politics “Let’s work with Nancy on Global Warming!” “Let’s support Dede!” The guy has been trying hook and by crook to get back into elective politics and he thinks he’s found his moment. I’m done with him. Yes he debates well, but that is all he can do.
Sad to say it really is a choice between Romney and Perry. The sham or the stumbler. Damn it.
