The decline in the people even bothering to be in the workforce is pretty darn scary. IMO, it’s much more disturbing than the high unemployment rate, but it’s not getting much attention.

In reply to J. Strupp. What a difference a change of the party in power makes. A couple years ago, nobody, especially the press, was happy with 5% unemployment (which, prior to 2001, was considered "full employment").

Nah, it’s apathy. The administration has accepted 10% unemployment at this point. Congress too. The Fed. too.
