					<description><![CDATA[I wish I had saved the article, I can&#039;t find it anymore but it was very persuasive. 

It argued that a passenger railroad is not going to make any money, light rail can come close but probably not even then. Isn&#039;t that why the gov&#039;t took over Amtrak in the first place? Why aren&#039;t the Vanderbilts still in passenger railroad? 

But we need it. In case of emergency, we could really need the ability to move large numbers of people around the country. 

It&#039;s an insurance policy in case of disaster, if we need it, we&#039;re gonna need it and it&#039;ll be worth what we pay. 

I&#039;m not saying not to keep track, I am saying I could agree that we need to subsidize it. 
I&#039;d like to see arguments that it can be done profitably but I&#039;m pretty sure no passenger railroad in the world makes money.]]></description>
