This is definitely a sweet deal for Mercury after gaining union concessions. And with the tax apparently sweet for county coffers.

The “how much per job” question is interesting – since it appears Mercury will get the $1000 credit per job when each laid off worker is recalled, even though it isn’t truly a “new” position.

The total manufacturing jobs including current and laid off is 1350-1400. So to reach the max manufacturing figure being touted only 250 truly “new” positions are being created. Wonder what FDL residents would think if that subsidy figure were touted by the FDL Reporter instead of the $12400.
