Like I said, it was overly-simplified. Besides, last time I checked, Wisconsin didn’t exactly have a reserve of natural gas.

I don’t think that you accounted for the energy needed to produce ethanol, which is typically natural gas. If these energy needs are considered, ethanol cannot be a self-sustaining process. Beyond that, ethanol cannot be produced economically. Corn prices will rise to eat up any profits.

As far as the windmills go, there isn’t enough land in Wisconsin to meet our electrical needs. This is demonstrated by the huge wind farm that runs from up HWY 41 then steers east of Lake Winnebago. It has a peak capacity about that of the single Kewaunee nuke plant. Windmills do not run anywhere near their rated capacity.

Neumann is an elistist idiot.

Mark may be painfully-naiive (or compromised) on environmentalism, but I’ve followed the man for 16 years, when he first ran for Congress (and narrowly lost in a special election to replace the retired Les Aspen). On both most economic and especially social issues, he is conservative.

My biggest problem with him is that he has been out of the public eye since 1998.

I’ll take door #1. He’s the closest thing to the typical outstate moderate-to-liberal that has a semi-realistic chance at the nomination (never mind that he is neither outstate nor moderate-to-liberal).

EIther that, or he has a lot of money stuck into some ethanol plant someplace.

Can I ask the question, is Mark Neumann running as a republican or a democrat? I Think I have my answer, “both”.

Sure isn’t a conservative.
