Ain’t gonna change now.

By the way, on the argument, you were right and Morrissey was wrong. FWIW, he also makes some claims about Catholicism which are not correct, sorta like Hannity.

I’m sure the folks at re-education camp will accept this explanation. :P

Great clarification.

Great post. I wish I had your explanation earlier, it would have saved me hours of typing. I could just have either sent folks here or posted back your words…

“"The" affords the office-holder the respect that the office demands, regardless of the views of said office-holder. "My", outside of use in sarcasm, denotes a certain level of acceptance of the office-holder’s views. As Barack Obama and I share almost no common views, and I don’t wish to be sarcastic all the time, I cannot in good conscience call him anything other than "the President".”

Top flight, incisive and concise … and you can quote me on that, too!

Keep up the good fight!

Ken

Unlike the Kos crowd, I believe the office of President, regardless of who is in it, deserves respect. Thus, I will use “The” when referring to President. However, also like you, I do not find that we will have much in common on the policy side.

On a side note but one that proves that Obama believes ego trumps substance…did you see his podium at his press conference? “Office of the President Elect.” I didn’t know there was an office for the President elect…I must have missed that section of the Constitution…or, I’m not keeping up with the already rewritten versions that are soon coming off thepress!
