Comments on: Presidential Pool – Why is Huckabee still in the race?

The repository of one hard-boiled egg from the south suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin (and the occassional guest-blogger). The ramblings within may or may not offend, shock and awe you, but they are what I (or my guest-bloggers) think.Fri, 15 Feb 2008 14:00:50 +0000

However, I discount both that and the math from the Huckster (just as I discounted the math from McCain’s campaign that Huckabee needed 120-some percent of the remaining delegates).
A couple of corrections off the top of my head to that Huckster math; not only are most of the states some form of winner-take-all, where even a plurality gives a particular candidate all of the delegates, all 40 of Wisconsin’s delegates are bound (I suggest reading the Wisconsin GOP constitution, specifically Article X, Section 4).
By the way, enjoy the awarding of the bound Romney delegates to McCain.

“McCain has 796 bound and 18 unbound delegates.
.
Now let’s do some math:
McCain needs 395 bound delegates to reach 1191 of the remaining states:
.
Texas – 137 bound and 3 unbound
Ohio – 88 UNBOUND
South Dakota – 24 bound and 3 unbound
Wisconsin – 37 bound and 3 unbound
Vermont – 17 bound
Idaho – 26 bound and 6 unbound
Hawaii – 20 bound
Pennsylvania – 74 UNBOUND
Oregon – 27 bound and 3 unbound
Puerto Rico – 20 bound and 3 unbound
North Carolina – 69 bound
Indiana – 27 bound and 30 UNBOUND
Kentucky – 45 bound
Mississippi – 36 bound and 3 unbound
Rhode Island – 17 bound and 3 unbound
Nebraska – 30 bound and 3 unbound
New Mexico – 29 bound and 3 unbound
.
There are 561 bound delegates left of which Mr. McCain must win 71% of to reach 1191…..now when was the last time he won with 71% of the vote?”

Ok I’m somewhat confused here. What are the 193 delegates referring to of which McCain could get 120?
I should have been a bit clearer on that; those 193 are the delegates from Alaska, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, and Nevada. I previously backed the portions CNN gave Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and John McCain out of their CNN delegate counts because they’re not actually allocated at this point. That number includes those previously allocated to candidates that dropped out, as well as the 11 that Ron Paul is projected to get. They get allocated (depending on the state, either officially bound or officially “unbound”) at district and state conventions, which occur later in the year.
Sorry about the confusion. I’m not a pro, and I don’t have a copy editor to save me.

I mean, have you ever been to Arkansas? Who the hell is going to care about him once he ends his campaign?
