I missed this Wisconsin GOP press release yesterday (thanks for waking me up, Kevin):

MADISON – After news broke yesterday that Governor Doyle held a campaign fundraiser instead of helping flood victims Tuesday, the Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Reince Priebus, along with conservatives across the state like radio hosts Jerry Bader and Vicki McKenna, called on Doyle to donate the money he raised golfing to the flood cause.

“With Barack Obama in the state, Obama’s top campaign staffer, Jim Doyle, gave voters a glimpse of the Democrats’ priorities this year – politics over Wisconsin families,” said Priebus. “Thousands of families spent the day cleaning-up flood damage while Doyle raised thousands of dollars golfing, the least he can do is donate his proceeds to their behalf.”

Governor Doyle held his golf outing Tuesday charging $1,250 a person.

While the state GOP still hasn’t reached out to the blogosphere for the state convention (at least nobody has mentioned any outreach), the national GOP is looking for a few good bloggers. I know I’m a very long shot for various reasons (excessive expletives, a general dislike of McCain, a lack of knowledge of the difference between morons and Morons™ that would cause confusion about a large portion of my readership, not-nearly-Hot Air readership numbers), but it would be an excuse to head up to the Twin Cities.

Here’s where I ask for your help. I won’t promise to listen, but I will definitely take it under advisement.

It’s time for the Second Annual Who Will Drop First poll. Last year, nobody took the “winner”, Kansas. They’re back for more, along with UCLA, Memphis and overall #1 North Carolina.

I’ll even give you a bit of help with the schedule because seconds do count. North Carolina goes against #4 Washington State Thursday at 6:27 pm, UCLA goes against #12 Western Kentucky Thursday at about 8:40 pm, Kansas goes against #12 Villanova Friday at about 8:40 pm, and Memphis goes against #5 Michigan State Friday at about 8:57 pm. If all 4 make it to the Elite Eight, North Carolina and UCLA would go Saturday at times to be determined (not against each other), and Kansas and Memphis will go Sunday at times to be determined (also not against each other). If I remember, I’ll close the poll while the games involving the #1s are played; if not, I’ll toss out all answers cast during those games.

It’s never too early to think about 4 years from now, especially since things are officially wrapped up on the Republican side. For the eternal optimists, I’ve included John McCain and the sitting VP (I didn’t want the more-or-less optimists who think McCain will be a 1-termer but think that Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney will be the sitting VP to get pigeon-holed with the pessimists, so I broke them out). For the pessimists, I’ve thrown in the two people most-likely to lay claim to the “next in line” title (Huckabee, who will finish second in delegates if he doesn’t release them all, and Romney, who will finish second in the popular vote but released all his delegates) and the field (note for those that want the field, 4 months ago, we all thought the 56-year streak of “next in line” would finally be broken this time around). For the nihilists, I’ve even thrown in the Whig-ing of the GOP.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Hillary Clinton is as dead as fried chicken in the polls. Barack Obama has caught her in Texas and is closing rapidly in Ohio, and this isn’t the infamous last-second close that never does materialize. Meanwhile, Mike Huckabee is soldiering on in his quest to top Mitt Romney’s vote total.

Guess, since I’ve had nothing the last couple days (side note; thank you, Shoebox, for bailing me out of my blogging funk), it’s time for a new NRE poll. The clock stops when the candidate officially announces he or she is either “ending” or “suspending” the campaign, not when the press says that one or the other will drop out.

Since Mike Huckabee teamed up with both John McCain and Ron Paul (Nick? Chris? Flashy? Care to explain?) to take West Virginia from Mitt Romney, I’m going to be taking the rest of the afternoon to write my answer to the question.

First, the Wyoming county caucuses. This thing slipped my mind, partially because it is so archane (H/T - John Hawkins) it makes the Dem half of the Iowa caucii look sane and partially because the delegate total was halved, but it’s on as I type. At stake are 12 6 12 of 28 14 delegates, and the story (cribbed from Rich Moran) is pretty convoluted. Originally, Wyoming’s plan was to do their county caucuses to select 12 of the 28 delegates to the national convention the same day as New Hampshire’s primary, January 22, with the remaining 16 chosen at the state convention in May. Because of the leapfrogs, they eventually settled on today. Because, unlike Iowa’s and Nevada’s caucii, the delegates are bound to candidates, the RNC halved the grand total because it’s happening before Super-Duper Tuesday, which would have cut the bounty from the caucuses to 6. In a desperate attempt to keep some form of meaning, the Wyoming Republicans decided to once again make it 12 and cut the number selected at the convention from 8 (already reduced from 16) to 2.

Jim Geraghty reports that the party insiders are still anticipating a romp by Mitt Romney, the only candidate to set up an office in Wyoming. However, Fred Thompson has also worked the state relatively-hard (no jokes about being lazy; reserve them for the Liberal Three this round), and those two as well as Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter have made recent phone efforts. Meanwhile, the Liberal Three of John McCain, Mike Huckabee, and Rudy Giuliani treated Wyoming as though it didn’t exist.

Next, most of the candidates will be on back-to-back debates on ABC tonight starting at 6 pm (Central; refer to your local listings for station and time). I’ll be here with live-blogging; since I haven’t yet decided whether to be nice or surly, I do not know whether I’ll be simulcasting the live-blogging at some of the other places I have blogging keys to (namely, my hole-in-the-TownHall wall). I’ll leave that decision up to you. Mind you, I won’t guarantee I’ll listen to the majority (unlike government, I’m not a democratically-elected representative republic), but it will weigh heavily in my decision.

While the cost of gasoline has started to move in response to this latest spike in the cost of oil, I have a fear that we haven’t seen anything yet. After all, the $90-$100/barrel oil has yet to enter the pipeline. Therefore, I’ve got a new poll up…

The “official” number will come to us from MilwaukeeGasPrices.com as close to the end of the day 12/31/2007 as I can stand. As a refrence point, today’s average is $3.084/gallon.

First things first, I closed the “Who won’t be a candidate as of 10/1/2007?” poll as yesterday was 10/1. Congrats to the three people who saw that nobody would drop out.

I did encounter a problem between updating WordPress and WP-Polls; somehow, the number of voters was reset to the number of votes. I went back through the logs and manually corrected this. It should work properly now.

I somehow failed to include a “none of the above” choice in the “Which Presidential candidate(s) is/are out this month?” poll. It’s now rectified.

If you haven’t voted, do so.

Nothing much happened besides Tommy “The Other” Thompson realizing he had no chance and Hiliary Clinton following the playbook of her husband and taking $42,000 in illegal donations. That changes tonight with the last pre-Fred debate, which William Smith will not be live-blogging from on-site. He will still be live-blogging, but like me (in between pitches of the Brewer game, that is), it will be beer-aided.

In honor of Fred’s filing tomorrow, it’s time to ask who won’t be a candidate by the end of the month.

While I do give him a modicum of credit for placing the blame where it belongs, he has no concept of either market forces or soverignty.

In case you haven’t guessed by the sudden appearance of Blogs4Bauer in the blogroll, I’m a late arriver to the “24″ phenomenon. That isn’t stopping me from speculating who the mole is. You can speculate too by voting in this week’s poll. This poll will close at 2000 CDT 3/19/2007, when my TV will be on 6.1 and my computer will be locked into the B4B live thread (as well as a few others).

• Milo Pressman

  Why Milo? He was brought into CTU by the original mole, Nina Myers, disappeared for several seasons (during which he bedded and dumped Chloe), and magically rose to IP Manager. He also sent Morris out to his meet with the Black and Decker, and he was one of only two to survive the assault on the first Gradenko “safe house”.

  Why not Milo? He did at least try to save Marilyn Bauer.

• Bill Buchanan

  Why Bill? He’s the one that released Abu Fayed, who orchestrated the events leading up to the irradiation of Valencia.

  Why not Bill? He’s in a position of power, and if he wanted to mole out, it would be for something far, far greater than 5 nukes. Of course, that’s what the Rooskies are aiming for.

• Morris O’Brian

  Why Morris? He’s a lush who, after a little bit of persuasion by Black and Decker, created an arming device for the 4 surviving nukes. Also, he’s got a grudge against Milo.

  Why not Morris? Is that arming device actually functional? We’ll know next hour.

• Chloe O’Brian

  Why Chloe? She’s been around longer than anybody other than Jack, and she hasn’t cracked a smile yet.

• Nadia Yassir

  Why Nadia? She has the Middle Eastern background, been pretty much invisible, and she also hasn’t cracked a smile yet. She’s also the token Pubbie, and I have a gut feeling that the folks behind “24″ want to re-establish their liberal credentials.

• Mike Doyle

  Why Mike? Frankly, I’ve been scarred for life by “Silver Spoons”.

  Why not Mike? He’s a Johnny-Come-Lately, and the mole has computer experience, something that seems to be missing from his background.
