New NRE poll - Should/will Doyle donate his golf fundraising money to flood relief?

by @ 15:51 on June 13, 2008. Filed under NRE Polls, Politics - Wisconsin.

I missed this Wisconsin GOP press release yesterday (thanks for waking me up, Kevin):

MADISON – After news broke yesterday that Governor Doyle held a campaign fundraiser instead of helping flood victims Tuesday, the Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Reince Priebus, along with conservatives across the state like radio hosts Jerry Bader and Vicki McKenna, called on Doyle to donate the money he raised golfing to the flood cause.

“With Barack Obama in the state, Obama’s top campaign staffer, Jim Doyle, gave voters a glimpse of the Democrats’ priorities this year – politics over Wisconsin families,” said Priebus. “Thousands of families spent the day cleaning-up flood damage while Doyle raised thousands of dollars golfing, the least he can do is donate his proceeds to their behalf.”

Governor Doyle held his golf outing Tuesday charging $1,250 a person.

With that, I’ve got a new poll up…

Should/will Gov. Doyle donate the proceeds of his golf outing fundraiser to flood relief?

  • He shouldn't, but will donate at least some of the money. (9%, 3 Vote(s))
  • He should, and he will donate some of the money. (3%, 1 Vote(s))

I need to take a mulligan.

I think I miscast my vote.

I meant to vote for “He should, but he’ll hang onto all the money.” Instead, I voted for “He shouldn’t, and won’t donate any of the money.”

Sorry about skewing the poll results.

Results weren’t skewed. The count was 1 before you voted, and it was 1 afterwards (unless you voted before 5 pm).

Priebus stole that idea from me–

See Asian Badger’s post on the topic and my comment.

So Doyle is bad for fundraising on Tuesday, but its alright for Walker to? We haven’t seen a single blogger on the right take a look at your own presumptive nominee:

    From Xoff:

So, what was the unannounced Republican candidate for governor doing on Tuesday? Milwaukee County Exec Scott Walker was in Hayward and Rhinelander, raising money for a GOP State Senate candidate, Tom Tiffany — and collecting some political IOUs for his campaign for gov.

    Tuesday’s calendar from WisPolitics:

Lunch with 12th SD candidate Tom Tiffany 6/10/2008 12 p.m. Lumberjack Steakhouse, 15860 T-Bone Lane, Hayward. County Executive Scott Walker $25 suggested minimum contribution PAC Accepted

Reception with 12th SD candidate Tom Tiffany 6/10/2008 5 p.m. Wisconsin River Cruises, 913 W. Kemp St., Rhinelander. Special Guest: County Executive Scott Walker $25 suggested minimum contribution PAC Accepted

The campaign unofficially kicks off in a week, when Walker shamlessly takes another taxpayer-financed motorcycle ride to every media market in the state, ostensibly to promote Milwaukee tourism, but really to get his mug on TV as he starts to run for 2010.

Should we do a poll about what to do with the money he raised for Tiffany?

Walker and Doyle were together, by the way, at a Monday news conference on Milwaukee County flooding, before Walker headed north to raise political money. And there were more than a few problems in Milwaukee County that Walker left behind.

    Double standard, anyone?

    I’m glad I didn’t skew the results. I know I didn’t vote before 5PM.

I must be suffering from storm and flood fatigue or something — too much stress and too little sleep.

I need to relax. Maybe I should go golfing.
